beverley is nowhere near the player tucker is and the amount of injuries made him a liability..

tucker is absolutely off limits unless we get another player with butler

Well he isn't as replaceable as many of the other role players that have been traded away. I've asked before who would be a comparable replacement and yet no one can give an actual answer.

Just following how this team is and what he does especially defensively in just a year, his importance obviously is a huge priority as noted by key members of this current team. if the people in the boat that don't want to give up tucker knew there would be a replacement coming then that could possibly factor in but atm there isn't one out there

I’m in camp “don’t want to see PJ go, but won’t let him make me say no to Jimmy Butler”

Morey can find another loveable glue guy who plays D...stars are much harder to come by

So it seems that we're on permanent standby until we get the "Thibs fired" or "Thibs resigns" notification first.

Can back off the precipice half a step I suppose.

If this happens, our starting 5 would be.

    CP3
    Harden
    Buckets
    Melo
    Cap

That would be crazy. All would be on team USA except for Capela and that's because he's Swiss.

I can certainly understand and respect what you're saying... I just think its too great a gamble... we've come so far from the days of the 'treadmill of mediocrity' that I hate to risk throwing it all away for a gamble on someone that, while immensely talented, has some questionable thought processes... and appears to be talking out of both sides of his mouth...

Who imagined 5 or 6 years ago that we'd be sitting here with the MVP, CP3, Melo, Gordon (whos been healthy) and a force like Capela? Imo, we are there - the days of having to gamble are over. Now is the time to fine tune the bench and continue to build unity.

If JB wants to win... he should be pushing for Hou or GS... he should want to go to Laker land with Bron. Celtics should be at the top of the list... maybe a half dozen other spots... but not the Knicks and Nets - or even Clips.... this strikes me as someone that wants to be the undisputed top dog and wants to have an organization by the short hairs so they can dictate what they want and go full blown diva...

Hey maybe he thinks he can build a winner by going to a lesser organization and bringing in Kyrie and dictating the roster and coaching from there... in which case I would say the dude is delusional if he thinks 2nd tier players (he and Kyrie) are gonna build a championship team... This is the questionable thought processes that could result in him leaving after a year to go to one of these teams that have the cap space to give him a max contract (or he and Kyrie going to where they can afford 2 max deals)... which again, if this happens we are screwed... we can retain who we got now (which is a championship caliber team imo) via Bird rights - but if Jimmy walks - thats a huge step backwards and probably closes any realistic window while CP3 is on the roster...

Thats why I say screw Tomball Jimmy - let's just run it back! ;) lol

Hell no he is not doing that, he wants his money just like anyone else. I think Taylor would have fired him but wanted to save face with this situation as much as possible for after the season. I believe Woj's report and it matches up with the idea that Minny has lost all leverage in this situation. They could have dealt honestly and quickly with a couple of desperate teams (Miami and Clippers) and got them 2/3 of a deal but Thibs was faking and teams knew it. This happens all of the time, 8 teams got involved and everyone began talking. By the time this dragged on everyone realized they could drop their offers and wait them out. Teams pulled out and the remaining competitors know everything. Taylor will get involved and override Thibs. His main driver will be Dieng. You get Dieng off his payroll and offer a decent player and you win. I still don't think we win and never dreamed we were this close. The stupidity of Minny may have opened the small and ONLY door possible for Morey to get over on this one. If he does we should offer Thibs a job immediately after he is fired because he is the only reason we are in this at all. The trade to me still feels like the PG trade.

What's the gamble. We won last season despite Gordon having on of his worse shooting years. Gordon isn't as important as people think and Butler would be a clear upgrade.

Thibs is hospitalised after spontaneous combustion is also likely at this point.

Minny just keeps giving ammunition to Kat/Nike when he demands a trade in a few months.

    Valid point...
but barring catastrophic injury, I think he will still have a decent amount of suitors willing to gamble though and give him max money...
but I think that just reinforces the point that he doesn't want to go to a team to win - he wants to go a lower level team so he can have them by the short hairs...
Thats why i say I think the dude is talking out both sides of his mouth... and I think it would be foolish to gamble whats been built on whether or not this dude decides to re-sign next year - at any amount...

This was the trade I suggested exactly. You could also expand it with a second trade with Knight to Minny and taking back Teague and Jones in TPE.

The gamble is if we trade PJ and EGo and then Jimmy walks - to go to one of those teams that will have the cap space to give him a max contract - we are totally screwed. We're over the cap - so we aint signing nobody new above mle or min contracts... we got no sizable contracts to trade for salary matching (except Knight which will undoubtedly be negative value)... we are painted into a corner - with a lesser team than we have today.
If GSW were a clearly superior team - then we'd have to take the gamble... but i dont think thats the case... imo...

I mean, you're completely dismissing the Rockets Win the Title scenario.

If we pull the trade, and win the title, how mad will you be about Jimmy walking then?

CP3 Harden Butler Melo, that’s just good and great players thrown together. That doesn’t even get you in Warriors territory.

WHO CARES??? if we get butler than who cares about Melo and whether or not he starts??? you don't think MDA and the rockets brass will be able to figure out our best possible lineups over the course of an 82 game season? bc you're acting like if gordon and tucker go all is lost but ignore the fact that we'll be getting a bonafide top 15 player back in butler.

    i just can't figure out what you're b****ing about.
