Denver gives up Carmelo Anthony and Nene for Favors, Budinger, a couple of late-lotto picks and cash? The compensation to them seems a little light, though the way Anthony is holding them hostage, they might be right. Nene for Favors seems fair, leaving Anthony for Bud, picks and lots of cash? Can't Anthony fetch any more than that?
Word is they're asking for a young prospect + (5) 1st round draft picks for Carmelo. I think in the end, they'll probably wind up with 3-4 1st rounders for him. From the proposals I've seen Denver linked to, they really don't want to take on any other salary except for the prospect they're getting back. It would be an interesting twist if the Rockets started Patterson and he could play his way into getting Denver interested enough -- right now he's probably the only young guy we have that could possibly be the main piece for them if he pans out.
Well, based on the offers out there for Melo, the rumored offer from New Jersey (Favors, Murphy and up to 4 first rounders) is far and away the best one. The Nuggets want a fifth first rounder, but New Jersey just laughed at them. So, based on this premise, say the Nuggets took New Jersey's offer for Melo. Then, the Rockets-Nuggets side of the transaction (not counting Hill to the Nets) would essentially be: Nene Troy Murphy (HUGE salary dump) 2011 LAL first round pick (very late first rounder) 2012 HOU first round pick (mid- to late first rounder) for Chase Budinger Yao Ming's corpse $8 million cash Keep in mind the above is just the "hypothetical trade" part of it. That doesn't factor in the additional millions of dollars the team would save in reduced payroll and luxury tax. The Nuggets can buy a pick better than that Lakers pick and still have over $5 million in CASH to play with. Also note that New Jersey is starting to back off its "Favors/Murphy/4 picks" offer the longer this is taking, so Denver also realizes the benefit of that "going, going, gone" offer.
I know I have been on the road alot in recent weeks so I've been less informed than (my) usual (misinformed), so, is this GARM speculation or does it have any basis to it?
I'm all for this type of deal. What more could the Rockets possibly get? I doubt they come any where close to what they want and this be the closest they get. Nene, 2 picks and a expiring contract. But like i was saying before, Rockets would have to take on salary Nene being just that so it's better be worth it.
Just GARM speculation. But, from the feedback I'm getting, it seems to at least be a plausible "Random Trade Idea."
The nuggets are messed up in the head if they think they are gonna get 5 picks for Melo... Who has that many to give up? let alone wants to... They should have taken the offer from the Nets, but probably couldn't because Melo wouldn't agree to sign off. Denver has overstepped their bounds and they are going to lose out big time. My bet is on Denver taking a crap package at the deadline for the best offer with New York being the likeliest destination... I think this is where Morey will try to jump in (either tying to get Melo or another Nugget for a cheap price tag). If I was the Nuggets I would try to trade a package with more than just Melo (i.e. Melo/Billups, Melo/Afflalo) and try to get maximum value without an extension, because most teams are not trading anything of value for Melo but the might give a extra for a package (and if Melo still wants to play with Billups maybe gives more hope for him re-signing).
Essentially it's Nene and Troy Murphy for Budinger (DEN) + Hill (NJN) + Yao (DEN) + picks (to DEN). I also like it. But I still can't see it from Denver's perspective. And it really only works for NJ if Melo will sign an extension. If DEN is really that serious about gutting their team, the Rockets might consider helping the Knicks if it nets Nene in the process.
Yes,that could make it more realistic. A very tall order though. Honestly,I would be very happy if we could get Turiaf/Chandler while helping NY get Melo. If NY doesn't want Hill,we could include him in a separate deal. I wouldn't give up Patterson. DM could look for a 5 later.
I think Aldeman and Morey prefer big guys who can shoot spread the floor. Rather than a big guy who can protect the paint. Aldeman and Morey prefer guys like Bargnani and Okur. Pansy shooters. I bet we end up with Mozgov. Anyone recall D.Anderson? This is the type of guy Morey and Aldeman prefers. Morey just got rid of him because he signed him up for too much in the 1st place.
We had Deke, even at an old age plus Yao. It's true that Adelman likes spacing 5's,but I feel he realises that this won't be enough.
Hey, I don't want to hear that we can't get CP3 for our bench players in the same thread that has us trading Jordan Hill for Whiteside. If we're stupid enough to do that, then NO can be stupid enough to trade us Chris Paul for Battier, Jeffries, and anybody else that we feel like throwing out there. As far as that goes, we should make it a three team deal, so that NO only gets Von Wafer for CP3. Hassan Whiteside hasn't even proven that he can stick in the NBA. Hill might not be a natural center, but at this point, he has more of a future as an NBA center than Whiteside does. Yes, I was one of those that thought Whiteside would be great as a pro. Well, not so far. Whiteside needs to get on Dancing With The Stars, while he's still somebody. Right now, it looks like he'll be a janitor in two years. Closer Look at Hassan Whiteside's D-League Struggles On a few other ideas, 1) I like Bima's trade, and 2) Casspi is getting a lot of interest around the league. They will only give him up to a team that also takes a big contract back. They are much more eager to ship Landry out, who is saying that he will not re-sign with them. 3) Nash is too old for our young core. If we were very close to winning the championship, it might be worthwhile.
