This on the other hand we should consider, especially if they throw DeAndre Jordan in, not farfetched considering who we would do business with.
I see the temptation to trade for/target Whiteside. Morey probably could have traded for a high 2nd rounder in the last draft to get Whiteside but didn't do it (that we know). Ditto a few years ago with DeAndre Jordan. Not sure why Morey doesn't take a flyer on these long guys in the 2nd round. I like Caspi, but why would we move Budinger for Caspi. Kind of a lateral move? What am I not seeing here?
They are similar enough to where Sacramento may agree on the swap if Houston insists. I like him a little more because he shows a bit more competitive fire. Budinger is too laid back and ... well .. soft for my liking. I think Casspi is more likely to improve and get better year after year.
C'mon guys. I'm desperate for some feedback. I'm rookie and can't start my own thread. News on the cables is that Phoenix is on the fence about trading Nash. There have been talks of rebuilding the last few weeks. That being said... Thoughts on the following gamble: Trade Brooks, Ming, Jeffries, Ish, throw in a pick to cancel out the curse of Jeffries Receive Steve Nash, maybe even Lopez? Steve Nash has at least 3 years left in the tank, have him groom Lowry on shooting. Lowry has already been improving on his 3s - having Steve Nash teach him a few more things wouldn't hurt. If Yao wants to sign and return with the Rockets next season, great for merchandise sales, and if he is healthy even better for the team. Target C prospects in draft and hopefully management picks wisely - which I'm sure he will. In the upcoming years (hopefully sooner rather than later) target Ricky Rubio. Which the Rockets have before. Maybe give up the rights to Sergio Lull and/or send over a well put-together package of the Rockets assets at the time. The more and more I see how Morey is building this team, the more it seems he really is pushing the idea of an 11-12 man rotation like in the Euro leagues.
Well, the Clippers aren't going to trade us two able-bodied centers for a guy who will never wear a Clippers uniform and Jordan Hill (more of a four anyway).
Yeah, Sterling would have to be on the cheap again, something he can't afford to be if he plans on convincing Blake Griffin. Without D Jordan I'm out of that deal though.
Nash and Lopez? No thanks. Good talent, I love the players, but to give up both Aaron and Ish, eh, no thanks. There is little upside to that trade. We get an underdeveloped big to take the spot of Jordan Hill? Plus, Nash has how many good seasons left? I'm all for bringing him here, I just don't see this benefiting either side.
Boy you must really love Nash, all 15 posts revolve around him; you're only getting negative feedback this way.
Yao and martin for chandler and butler and a pick or two. Why would houston do it? Chandler is the mobile, defensive big with the expiring contract and butler is injured, but he to is expiring. Why would dallas do it? Dirk out, butler out, they're going for it again and are in win now mode. Yao is the suit display dummy on another team. They have haywood, ajinca, and mahiimii on the bench.
I think Dallas really values what Chandler has brought to the team. They have credited his presence with their improved defense. Otherwise, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Not sure Dallas would go for that, I really almost broke my hand snapping my finger when the rumored trade for Chandler fell through, if we had gotten him I dare say we would be at least 10 games over .500. Butler had surgery today and Dallas is supposed to announce today how much time he will miss, they will need to do something if he’s lost for the season, they say they won’t panic but they’ll be stupid standing pat.
A big "Amen" to that. I get so sick of reading stuff like "Bud + Hill + Jeffiries expiring + picks for Melo". That doesn't work in the real world.
Was I mistaken on this? I checked Larry Coon's FAQ, and it says a player needs to be with the same team for 3 years for the Bird rights, but also that new teams inherit a traded player's Bird Rights.
