I would not be at all surprised to see either Courtney Lee or Chase Budinger involved in some sort of deal to aquire a true shotblocking big. Both Bud and Lee will be especially available if T. Williams breaks into the rockets rotation before the deadline.

If a team gives up a shotblocking big for either of those guys then I would be extremely surprised.

I did not say either of those players would be traded straight up for a shot blocking big.

I thought one of the cardinal rules in the NBA was that you don't trade big for small (unless of course your name is Carroll Dawson). I just find all of these scenarios extremely unrealistic because I do not expect other teams to bail out the Rockets - that's something they'll have to do for themselves. Oh and the time to acquire a bigger post player was during the off season BEFORE Yao Ming went down (again). The other teams in the division chose to address this need before the season started. Not the Rockets. Instead, the best Morey and company could do was Brad Miller. Also, I don't believe any of this about them exploring a Yao Ming trade. He is too valuable to the organization financially. I expect them to resign him at a lesser salary and let him continue to hobble along until he decides to call it quits.

You are missing the more likely scenario where Yao gets traded for his insurance paying EC, finishes the season without playing, and signs back with the Rockets later on for a substantially cheaper price tag. The Rockets on the other hand gains some valuable assets plus one or two bulky contracts back from a financially struggling team willing to take on Yao to shed salary cap and will gladly welcome Yao back to a better team in a reduced role and contract.

    A Yao Ming Question

    Hey Crew

This may seem obvious but i was just enquiring as to whether Yao could be traded to another team with them aware he will not suit up for them and stay on our bench and in our locker room or is that against league rules.

Sorry, but it's not possible unless they waive him immediately.

The other team will not waive him, because the insurance is paying $8 mil of his salary.

Yao+Hill+Budinger+Jeffries+Clippers 2nd rounder for Brand, Iguadola and the right to switch 2011 picks with them.

    Brand/Miller/Hayes
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    Iguadola/Battier/Williams
    Martin/Lee/Williams
    Brooks/Lowry

We give ourselves another shot at swapping into better draft position. Especially considering the 76ers will finish with a worse record than ourselves. But it is the bounty for taking on Brands fat contract. Especially while they get 2 young players, cap relief and a relatively good draft pick.

Brand is not a center and this would not make us a contender.

    True or False?

    Happy New Year to everybody.

About Yao's current situation, there is a story like this:

DM tried to push Yao to get surgery done asap to secure that 5.8 million exception (and partial salary covered by insuranc too). Yao doesn't want another surgery and he (based on information from HIS doctors) thinks conservative treatments are enough and, of cause, better for his career. Then trade rumor was spreaded, which, maybe, is an extra push for Yao.

I am not sure this story is true or not, but I am definitely sure Yao won't come bace to resign as a Rocket if he is traded. I have a lot of Chinese friends, FACE (they call Mianchi), most times, is everything to them, Yao won't be an exception.

The Rockets trading Yao's contract has no impact on him. He's still going to be in Houston. He's still going to be a free agent in the summer. And the Rockets are still going to want him back.

I assume Yao is more pragmatic and understanding of how the league works than your Chinese friends. He is also loyal to the organization that has invested a lot into him, and who's expectations he hasn't been able to meet the last few years. Why would he object if they can benefit from trading his expiring contract?

would be pretty funny if Yao was traded to another team but still stayed in Houston and sat on the Rockets bench during games

LOL ... didn't think of that.

Would that be against league rules?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that won't be allowed. It would be funny though.

He probably won't be able to sit on the Rockets bench. But I guess nothing can prevent him from sitting on the front row right behind the bench.
