Maybe he had a chance of that, but not anymore! Von, Bud, Hill...now Yao? Who's next? Pugs Edit: ok maybe not Hill yet, but after that thread....we all know his time is coming ;-)
Yao has 17 mill coming off the books this season, and the team is geting bout 8 mill from insurence. What ever team were to trade for Yao would dump around 17 mill in contracts, and it being bout midseason would get Yao{s contract for free(8 mill insurance).
Successful Trade Scenario Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. this is basically turning into last years version of tracy mcgrady's final moments in houston. (the friendlier version at least).
I don't know about that. If anything, Yao should have learned by now NBA is a money business, not a loyalty business. All the players on Rockets when Yao joined NBA have been traded or just let go. If Rockets traded him, it makes it even more clear royalty means nothing. If Yao can play again(that's a big if) and if Yao happens to resign with Rockets, I think it will have more to do with his family life than so called "royalty". Family or Championship will have the advantage.
DD, I've been accused of using mechanical equipment as analogies to explain how I feel about the whole Yao sage. For the most part, those posters are right on. I use the trucks because of what they have done for my family financially, but i think its fair. So, here goes another one  I have a truck that is starting to give me problems big time. $2000 here, $1000, there, just repairs piling up. Now this same truck has grossed over 125k per year for the last 5 yrs. I'm to the point now that the truck is costing more than its worth. Sure i can drop about 6k into it and maybe it will last another 3 yrs and 300k miles or I can just go buy another with a warranty for about 35k and be worry free for the next 3 years. Thats how I feel about Yao. To this point, I don't care if yao comes back from this injury in 6-8 weeks. Its past that point because the injury bug will strike again sooner than later. Maybe he rebounds and stays healthyand br productive for the next 5 years. Why would any team, especially the rockets bank on that when he's missed 3 full seasons in the last 5 years and basically 4 in the last 6? Why would any team bank on the unbankable?
I've been wondering why Yao hasn't started surgery yet ... to start recovery ASAP (if he hasn't thrown in towel on his career that is). I mean, the guy is registered as out for the season, so not sure how "mild" it can be. I thought it was already mentioned that the best option is surgery - unless he's trying to get a second opinion elsewhere?
Exactly, Yao is apparently done. It's all about the expiring contract now. I'm happy about the news, and hope it's all true. Gotta get what they can out of an injury prone player. Loyalty only goes so far, this is a business and Yao is killing this team.
The part about the front-line center is the most telling for me. I think a lot of people were thinking of getting a McGrady-like haul for him.. but the Rockets seem more concerned with landing a valuable center with him. I suppose this could change if we were able to acquire a C without having to give up Yao's expiring.
