I meant that. I didn't mean "tank & rebuild", I meant rebuild as in a new cornerstone. Not as in trade Yao for future picks.
We are not rebuilding. Morey is only going to make moves that make us better to get us up to championship level. That's it.
I wonder if Morey offered that 2012 pick with whatever package to Sac.. If not, maybe tht will help to get Cousins.
We have a solid supporting cast, we need 1 stud and one guy to defend in the post and I really think we are contenders. We aren't even in the same talks like a team like Detroit sucking with nothing to look forward to. We are just one great Sf or C w/ a decent role player at the opposite position and we could really be turning heads. If Brooks could stay playing that 6 man role, which he probably wont, I could see our second unit being the best in the league. Brooks Lee Twill Hayes Hill.
CCorn, Totally agree. I really think our second unit is going to rock once Brooks gets back healthy.......even if we don't make trades. Brooks, Lee, TWill is going to be killer running and gunning. And even if you are a Brooks over Lowry guy, Lowry, Lee, and TWill is going to also be a killer second unit. I sincerely believe once TWill is integrated into the rotation that our 2nd is going to run away with the game from all of our opponents. Now take into consideration moving Yao's contract for mega assets that you can use to either integrate or allow us to combine some of our current talent for a superstar? We are headed for a 4-6 playoff seeding, barring major injuries, this season, and no telling how good we are going to be at the end.
Start praying that the Hornets starts sucking even more i say. Yao + AB + Jefferies + 1st round for Paul and Emeka would be awesome.
I like what Brooks brings but I just think him and Martin on the floor most the game is dangerous. And I trust Martin taking the shots over AB. Lowry is top ten in assist and top 5 in steals and he can grab boards. Thats what we need next to Martin. Brooks could get 6 man of the year with the energy he would bring to the floor in the second unit. I don't think it would take a superstar either, if we could land Wallace or Iggy I think we'd be as good as SA no doubt. Martin's efficiency would go up even more if he had Iggy dishin the ball to him also ha.
I'm not going to throw dirt on Yao because he has been a good player and a great citizen. My deal was the rockets couldve sold a team hope, but now they can only sell his contract. They couldve gotten alot more at the end of this last year for yao or his insurance paid contract than what they can get now. They couldve sold the videos of him shooting from the chair or the apparent comeback he was about to make vs what they can sell a team now. I honestly don't really see anything that really blows my skirt up in regards to a trade now. I'm sure the rockets can get thompson, dalembert, and cassipi for yao and a player if they want it. They can take a bad contract like brand to get iggy and something which makes 0 sense too. They're kind of in a poor spot in terms of trading him. They won't get nearly what they got in mcgrady trade. That was kind of like a perfect storm last year. Granger, whom was thought of a a target is playing on a .500 team. Iggy has brand traveling with him in most cases. Nene might be availible, but the people i trust are saying he is traveling with carmello or going to ny. Randolph,Turiaf, and Curry's contract make sense talent wise and money wise if the rockets can also get under the lt threshold. IDK, i guess we will have to see.
...and the you have Melo pressing Denver to make a deal with the Rockets so he can roll with CP3 rather than Amare  Melo speaking to Denver Front Office: "I ONLY wanna go to Houston since CP3 is headed there. SCOLA, LOWRY and MARTIN must not be part of the deal! They need to remain in Houston too!"
i'm not sure what this means. we're not a championship contender. we haven't won a title since 1995. we haven't advanced further than the 2nd round except for once since 1997. if we're not rebuilding, what the hell are we doing? running in circles?
Take it easy. Not everyone thinks the same way, and not everyone says what he/she thinks. Some people are ungrateful, some people are just rude, and some are flame-baiting/trolling. No matter how logical or easy for you to see something obvious, you still won't get everyone on the same page for most things in life. No need to get upset about that.
We're RELOADING. Sure, we've repeatedly missed our target, sometimes hitting something nowhere near it, but also occasionally "winging" that target. But we keep reloading, knowing that we'll EVENTUALLY find the right aim and hit that target.
sounds like semantics to me. still looking for a player to build around to get us to the promised land, where we once were. maybe if we'd been playing in the Finals once over the last decade..or been in the WCF once in the past decade, i'd get your "occasionally winging that target" reference. but not with what we've been watching the past 10 years or so.
Doubt it. At the beginning of the year, there were several possibilities: 1. Yao returns to form and stays healthy all year. 2. Yao gets hurt early, the team gets stuck paying 1/2 of the salary while insurance pays the other half. 3. Something in between, Yao stays largely healthy, but never regains form. The team gets stuck paying $17 mil for an somewhat healthy player whose play doesn't come close to justify the salary (like McGrady's days with the Knicks). Scenario 1 would be very good, but every team knows the probability for that is slim. The value of this "hope" is discounted accordingly and, as such, most likely won't be worth a whole lot. Scenario 2 is essentially what we are selling now. Current salary saving + expiring contract. However, his trade value is higher now than it was before because (a) you eliminated scenario 3 (no current salary saving) as a possiblity, and (b) an "expiring contract" is a lot more popular later in the season, when some teams have given up hope and want to just cut salaries, than it is at the beginning of the season, when a team still wants to sell season tickets to fans who hope for a good season. As is with the case of McGraday, an "max" guy with serious injury on the last year of his contract is worth more as "meat" (i.e. expiring contract) than "pet" (i.e. live player).
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=27fgb4w this would be a neat trade...not that i think its really worth doing tho. Honestly anything short of a superstar doesnt really help.
About Tyrus Thomas...has his game improved at all this year? I completely forgot how young (only 24) he is and his numbers look solid. His FG% and FT% are up nicely and his PPG and FT/G are up per 36 min. To anyone who has watched him are these numbers just a fluke?
