I'm new and I agree, Yao and the Chinese fans have done alot for the Rockets. I think Yao would agree to being traded because he knows it would help the team, because that's how great of a person he is.

is memphis that desperate to save money i thought they had one of the lowest payrolls in the leagues to begin with

i mean we'd have 4 SGs then with martin, mayo, lee and Henry....3 of whom probably all have a legitimate case for being a starter.

I can see Memphis being part of a deal like a 3 team but i cant see them giving all that just for one insured expiring contract.

of course if Morey is able to pull something off like this:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2c32sjl

I'd be dancing in the streets even if it meant taking on that Thomas contract

The organization would have to be mainlining Viagra if they could pull off a rape of such epic proportions.

This would be Memphis being Memphis. Gasol is due to be a free agent. They're committed to Gay and Conley and they can't get value for Thabeet plus they're committed to Thabeet's contract. Easiest thing to do would be to plug Thabeet in the pivot and drop a young PF in for Zach, whom they are going to let walk anyways as a free agent. So, it makes sense in a way for Memphis, knowing they are unprofitable, struggling, and they can't afford to up their payroll. (I sure hope we don't sent them Patterson though.)

Mayo, Gasol, and Henry are the cost for the $8 million in salary savings plus the young stud from our team (Patterson or Hill). This would give Memphis a young 4/5 combo of Hill or Patterson and Thabeet.

This makes some sense to me. And it leaves us with a $17 million expiring plus young assets like Mayo and Henry to push to another team looking to rebuild (Hornets, Bobcats, Suns) or reload (Orlando, ATL, etc.). I really like it if we have secondary deals in place that allow us to convert everybody outside of Gasol to a substantial superstar upgrade at either SF, PF, or PG.

If Morey pulled something remotely like that deal, I think we could safely say it is fun! ;-)-

I have a feeling that if we trade Yao, he will remain healthy for the remainder of his life with that new team. Yao is still young, we should get him at 5mill a year the most but with these training /medical staff that we have, just forget about it.

As if the month leading up to last year's deadline wasn't bad enough. Let's hope Andre Iguodala is not "tippin on 44s" this January.

Denver doesn't want to trade Melo to the West because they do not want to have to face him every year. So, if the Rockets are to have a chance, they have to overwhelm Denver with the amount of talent Denver can get from Houston over what they can get from NJ or NY. The reason a deal hasn't gone down sooner with NJ or NY is because Denver is looking at a less than stellar return. The best out there is Favors and a bunch of probably mediocre to low first round draft picks. NY can't get a deal done. Melo wants his extension. If we overwhelm Denver with a talent haul that exceeds Favors and a bunch mid to late first round draft picks and we convince Melo that we are going to make a move for his buddy, Paul, Morey may be able to pull this off.

Mayo, Henry, the 2011 draft pick switch, plus expirings plus other young talent we garner for Zach's expiring deal, may be enough to get Denver to move Melo to us and get Melo to do an extension, especially if the plan ran through New Orleans or left us with assets and salary to go after Paul and Okafor if and when they became available.

I like it.. but I think as essential CP3 and Melo would be to this team, i think it would be imperative to try to keep Scola, Martin and Lowry cuz we're still gonna need a sharp shooter (Martin), and guys to do the dirty work.

Can you also imagine how many free throws we'd be getting per QUARTER? Holy crap the efficiency between CP3, MELO, and MARTIN..

No question in my mind regarding Martin. And I'd hate to lose Lowry. Scola.......I'd be willing to send him out if we had a young player like Patterson still here. I think Patterson is going to be an extremely effective player, especially as a 4th or 5th option surrounded by megatalent like Paul, Melo, Martin, and possibly Gasol at the pivot. But even if we had to route Gasol to N.O. and take on Okafor, I'd still like to plug Patterson in at the 4.

    I'd love to see:

    Paul
    Martin
    Melo
    Okafor
    Patterson

    with a bench of

    Lowry
    Lee
    TWill
    Miller
    Battier/Hayes

I'd really like to keep Battier for the playoffs.

Tradable pieces: Brooks, Hill, Scola, Jeffries, Yao's contract, the 2011 pick swap. If we offer up Brooks and Scola along with Yao's contract, that should bring in a load of talent that could be enough to overwhelm both Denver and New Orleans.

Yes, I know that injuries are a tough pill to swallow. And it happens to be the hands that were dealt to Yao, McGrady, and Steve Francis (Talented players who had a lot of love for the Rockets Organization). But, it's just mind boggling how shallow some fans can be toward these players after they've been injured. It's not like they gave up on the team mentally, their bodies just couldn't carry the load of the NBA game anymore.

The hate toward McGrady, is sad to see. McGrady really does think he's a week away from being back to his MVP days. One day he will come to terms with reality, but he tried his best; it just wasn't good enough in the playoffs. But he was awesome to watch :)

I just hope the trend doesn't follow, you know, the disappointment that turns into anger, that turns into contempt. Such as with Steve Francis Tracy McGrady.

Yeah.. i can get on board with losing Scola, and let PatPat develop and if we can keep Hill (which i dont think would be likely if these trades were to go down) but it would be really tough to let Lowry go, unless we can another promising PG to back up CP3. I'm not quite too sold on ISH just yet.

All I know is, I have a feeling Morey is going to make someone his *****.

this whole thing that the Rockets don't really want to trade Yao, and the whole fact that they released a report that they are still interested in resigning him sounds like he's playing the media as well.

I would let both Lowry and one of Patterson/Hill go to bring in Melo, Paul, and a big time rebounder/defender (Okafor or Gasol) to play alongside Martin. I would also be willing to give up one of either TWill or Lee although I'd prefer to keep both of them and Lowry to run the 2nd unit.

I guess at this point... if we can flip Yao into a CP3 and MELO and have them both agree to extensions, i can see DM as being the GM/Exec of the Year..

If it does go down though, i'm sure it'll have to involve multiple teams. And for us to screw over NY once again would be AWESOME!

The Yao trade sets us up for our near-future. The Terrence Williams trade(the cost was a 2012 pick that's protected from the lottery for 5 STRAIGHT YEARS) was an asset with a tremendous amount of insurance placed on it.

By that basis, you'd assume we're looking to "rebuild", but I think with our recent streak, we could pull strings.

I'm tuned in on to what Morey does, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us making a rebuilding-esque move.

Nah.. not with Morey. Morey seems like the type of GM that would look to reload rather than rebuild. I think we've got enough talent and enough pieces to move around to put this team over the hump. All it takes is one or two players.. of course finding those 1 or 2 players is the hard part.

Perhaps if that went down, the Rockets would make the national tv lineup?

Whatever is going to go down, i think we fans will be excited.
