Cash considerations have no impact on the salaries value. Could there be other parts to this deal? Well sure ... but the Grizzlies would have to add at least two players to make the trade work financially and I don't believe it either way ... it's just way too bad for the Grizzlies.
From someone in real life or online? Either way it's a fun can to kick around for this thread. I don't see how this trade makes any sense at all unless it's a part of a much larger deal. I understand the getting Gasol part for us...but Grizz have said they want to build around Gasol, right?. Then we are big time overloaded at the 2 and would have to move 2 of our SGs. Let's wait and see what develops since it sounds fun and exciting  because it would lead to multiple deals which is probably a good thing with Morey.
This post will summarize what I think about all of this.... 1st of all let me say that I had a ffeling that DM would use Yao´s contract to explore some specific targets...... I highly doubt he wants good young players, he is going after those young studs plus bad contracts or superstars/stars in bad/unhealthy franchises. I have read alot of trade proposals with Dalembert being the center piece, or rashard lewis, there is no way, in my mind, Morey is after these deals, even if they involve two 1st round unprotected draft picks..... Morey is after start power, of course those pick could be big because every team wants them, but superstars would still not want to be a Houston Rocket because we don´t have any player that is that WOW factor that Yao was to t-mac, for example... Morey, in my mind, is targeting CP3 like never before, he is going out there and saying, we will gladly take that 52M 4year Okafor contract, he is from Houston, he is a defensive specialist, with size and strong body, he is not a C but can play there. People said before why NO does that, they need to cut that Okafor contract so badly right now, plus they get Yao, that even without playing 1 second for them, would be important to sell the team, because NOW they have a global icon, that has that Asian market attached to him... I would not even talk about what a deal for OKAFOR plus CP3 would mean for Houston, I will summarize it saying that Melo would land in Houston right after..... I am not saying it will happen, but I don´t see Morey using Yao for a trade, and getting happy by getting, Rashard plus a draft pick, or G.wallace, or IGGY, or anything less then great, he is going after, now more then ever, the star/young stud power, and will not setle for good player coming, and in my opinion, GMs will start to realize that Yaos contract is more valuable then what they thought it was. Instant cap relief, plus a 17M expiring when they know nothing about the next CBA??? GOLD PeAcE
Someone in real life...phone and text msgs. Its someone with real time info on the talks....so as someone else mentioned...it could change before a final deal is made. Flame me if nothing delivers, but lets wait and see.
Gasol is there to stay, obviously would love to have the guy in Rox red but the more chatter I hear out of Memphis the more it seems he isn't going anywhere. I can see Yao for Mayo, Thabeet plus fillers if they REALLY want to rid of their contracts and open up room to sign Gaso and Z-Bo to extensions.
It would obviously be a multi-team trade as Henry and Mayo are duplicative to what we already have. I would suspect a quick rebuild for N.O. as someone has suggested with N.O. parting with Paul and Okafor. Or perhaps a team like the Hornets taking on Zach (expiring), Jeffries (expiring) and some of those trade pieces in exchange for Wallace and some of their picks. There's a bunch of multi-team scenarios that could unfold here. But I do agree with HoustonRockets. The first thing Morey is shooting for here is bringing a front line superstar like Chris Paul or Melo Anthony and then using that superstar to bring in another superstar like Melo or Chris Paul to play alongside the other and whatever else is left, likely Martin.
Yeah, i'm gonna have to agree with you. Morey's definitely gonna try to bring a 1st Tier type player and not a 2nd Tier. And this is the time to do it. New Orleans is losing money and not winning. Denver is gonna lose Melo no matter what. Both CP3 and MELO wanna play with each other (no pun intended). If you can sell the 2 on the fact that we won 42 last year without a star player, and we're keeping Scola and Martin, i think they'd be on board with that. But will Denver and New Orleans be willing to make those kinds of deals? The hard part would be retaining Scola, Lowry, and Martin in any of those trades, BUT if DM can make that happen, it would do WONDERS for this franchise! Starting 5 of: CP3 Martin Melo Scola Okafor ..would be a TREMENDOUS lineup/team to build around!
True. I wouldn't expect much more than a 1st round pick (and even then we'd probably have to take on an additional bad contract).
Yea that team is built better then the 04 Pistons. I like it. I also think its farely balanced. Martin/Melo/Scola no defense, but Paul and Okafor is a huge upgrade. Then add to that Anthony. I would actually like Shane to stay if possible. He'd make a trio defensive presence.
Once again, talking about what DM is looking for..... If "Chris freaking Paul" is not available, there is nothing you can do, but neither me or you know if he is or not so.... "Stop with all that nonsense" PeAcE
Looks like Cleveland is ready to blow up their team, why not go after Varejao and Mo Williams plus some lebron cash for Yao , Brooks, and Hill DANG!! To see Varejao and Scola on the court together
If this were the case, we would be an instant top 6 team in the league. Never will happen though. We would have to give up much more then that. Throw in T- Will or Patterson and a few future 1st rounders and then maybe NO would even glance at it.
Hope you're being sarcastic about Vaejao. Have you seen the contract he has? The amount he's getting paid is not worth the production he's putting up. Mo Williams IMO is also overrated.
