if we cant some how lure a superstar outta this--id love to see javale mcgee-deandre jordan-demarcus cousins -anthony randolph at the very least get traded here soon-
The Warriors might love to take a chance on Yao. The bay area will go wild over him. Jeremy Lin gets the biggest cheers whenever he touches the ball. Yao would kill it in sales and marketing.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7355667.html Feigans mentions Charlotte and SAC as two conversations that the Rockets have had. No deal so far, of course. Feigan says SAC wouldn't give up Cousins (probably the Rockets target) and a Charlotte deal would be salary relief for a draft pick. My guess is Charlotte can't be THAT bad off. Selling off a high pick is serious business and can haunt you for a long time.
How about Yao to Memphis for Gasol and fillers like an arthur or a haddadi?. Memphis is in need of a salry dump and maybe we can nab Gasol who is no certianty to re-sign there.?
It sounds like the Charlotte deal would be Yao for Diaw/Nazr/CHA 2011 #1. I think if we came away with that at the deadline, I'd be pretty happy. Hopefully Silas doesn't do something stupid like start winning with them.
We should have traded JT for that 2nd-rounder then. If a guy's the 12th man, he's nothing to get excited about. If he turns out to be more than the 12th man, then we get excited.
I could do with either of these, but as Bima points out, we don't have any spare roster spots. I do not want to see Ish, T-Will or CLee JT'd.
I don't understand why some of you guys want to keep Yao. I understand ya want him to retire as a Rocket but whats the point. Hes not helping the team win by sitting on the bench. Its best that the Rockets trade him and actually get something positive out of him. Winning is more important than Yao Ming retiring as a Rocket. I don't care what they do with him, as long as they can get something good in return that can help the team win now and win for years to come. Yao is indeed a noble person and he is great. But having him on this roster even for cheap won't do anything good if he's not playing. So I rather trade him and give that roster space to someone who can actually contribute to this team on the court.
Besides allbuster an well known YOF and few others, most people are ok with getting some value in return.
^^Everyone should be on board with it. Especially considering we wouldn't really be trading Yao at all...we'd be trading his contract. I don't see him ever playing in another NBA uniform.
I really like the Yao, Jeffries for Iguodala and Brand deal. I would throw in Bud also. I feel that this trade would put us right where we want to be. Right back in the contention picture.
I could see Yao playing 15 minutes a night if he were to do more rehab. noone though mcgrady would ever be good again and he is getting there. It's possible.
IT would be nice if he would retired in a Rockets uniform IF HES playing. Theres no point of holding onto him if he's 1. taking up a roster spot 2. Not playing 3. Recovered and most likely get hurt again Having Yao on the roster doesn't help this team one bit. Winning is more important than where Yao retires. The Rockets franchise comes first, not Yao. So we do whats best for the franchise, Yao then comes second. The point is if the Rockets can get a great deal for Yao in return, it should be a no brainer. I mean even if we resign him for cheap, what are they going to do with him? Let him sit on the bench and cheer? It would sucks because the Rockets have to cut some young talent just to make room for Yao on the bench? The Rockets have a chance here to really acquire something good or ever great. They can acquire a young promising player, or already established player or even a high first roud pick. Doesn't matter which one because all of those options will contribute more than Yao sitting on the bench in his suit. Theres no point of resigning him for cheap either. My guess is, he's done. I knew he was done 2 seasons ago when he went down. I felt bad for him having to go through a year of hard non-stop rehab just to return to the court only to be sideline again after seven measley games. There is no way Yao can ever return to the hardwood can play the long Nba season again. Another stress fracture after seven games? Right now its not about where and when will he play again. Its more of his long term health for his lifetime. Im sure he's leaning towards retirement. All we have left of him is his big expiring contract. Why not flip that for something that can have an immediate impact on this team. Yaos not playing no more so its best to trade him for the sake of this team. Doesn't matter where he goes to, Im sure his jersey will retire in Houston. The only reasonable idea that I think by resigning Yao is not resigning him as a player, but signing him as an assistant coach/players coach. We can use him to train young big men on this team like Patrick or Jordan Hill. By having Yao as an assistant coach and mentoring young players make more of an impact of him playing.
I thought you can't trade a player that is injured, because I remember in NBA Live that was impossible to do.
Ish is not an important piece though. I'm all in favor of getting Iggy if at all possible without giving up core players, but we'd still need a center.
Problem with 2011 picks is the 2011 draft might be watered down due to the lockout. Do they still have their 2012 pick?
