I understand your frustration, the GARM is downright inflammatory right about now. I think its best to just stick to the Dish and Hangout until the offseason is in full swing. I promise, people will calm down and have much more intelligent discussions.

I have no problems with them bringing in Mike Brown. This team needs a coach who can preach defense.

I'm not a McHale fan when it comes to being our head coach but he isn't going anywhere. Clutch and several others have already alluded to the fact there is a reason why McHale is here and that reason is Howard. This team has to make an upgrade when it comes to the defensive and bringing in someone like Brown is an upgrade.

There are other glaring issues Houston will have to address this offseason but bringing in someone like Brown is a start.

Good advice for everyone, although I find some of the current threads amusing. Should I see my doctor? ;-)-

Dwight came here because he wants to win a championship or two. If that means they need a better coach, he will be fine with letting Mchale go. It really isn't any more complicated than that.

I am sorry to sound superior, but this is a terrible post.

Who said elite coaching = titles?

You see, there is a gap between saying "coaching doesn´t really matter" DM
and "coaching is the only factor" - you just implied

If you say that SA has won because they have talent I say that we should have won against Portland because we have more talent (at least equal).... oh right, you actually have to coach talent, and put your very talented players in positions to be more effective, instead of letting an elite scorer shoot contested ISO shots for a full series when he is having a hard time scoring efficiently.

But you are right, If we had the most talented team in the league we would probably win it all with McHale but just a question: What is easier having the most talented team in the league to bail out bad coaching or actually have a good NBA coach to maximize talent?

I don't see Mike Brown screaming at Harden and holding him accountable.

wtf are Morey and Les doing? they're gonna run Dwight out of town, and maybe even Harden will request for a trade after another year of futility

I agree, what's the point of getting all these players if you are just going to hire a bunch of push overs to coach them.

I want to see Jeff Van Gundy run on to the court and grab Harden by the leg. Seriously.

I'm not sure if this is the right move or not.

I can't really understand the whole concept of an assistant coach being the lynch-pin here. It's like everyone knows the problem is the head coach, but for some reason don't want to do anything about that, so their cards are in on teh head defensive assistant coach thing.

I HAVE TO BELIEVE that McHale is key to better player attraction and somewhat retention...??

That said, so McHale stays. Do they then need a great assistant defensive coach? Sure. Absolutely. Is that Mike Brown? Maybe. That is definitely the strength of his coaching, and given the head-coaching experience, does strike em as better than anyone else on staff currently, that's for sure.

But his "reputation" does concern me a bit.

That said... is any GM really giving Mike Brown another shot at being a head coach anytime soon?

I don't see that happening. Bryon Scott's name hasn't been tossed around. I thought he was a pretty solid coach myself.

so complaining about people's complaining here is not really trying to get them to stop their complaining, but just a harmless version of your own complaining. in other words, not dictating, but just complaining ;)

Actually, that would be you in this case.. if you can't comprehend how Dwight's legacy is more important to him than a coach he has had a 1yr allegiance to.

    So would I.

Seriously, I think Van Gundy would be perfect for the job, and it would be a good move for Van Gundy, in my opinion. He has an amiable personality, so he'd get along with both McHale and the players. He has a deep knowledge of NBA defenses, and could "reach" players like Harden, I believe. Van Gundy gets back into coaching without as much pressure as he'd have taking a head coaching job with a team like LA, or the Knicks, for example. He'd have a contending team to work with, which is very appealing. Van Gundy has experience coaching big men. He could rehabilitate his relationship with Les. The topper? He'd be a great halftime and post-game interview. It's a win-win, in my humble opinion. Jump on it, Daryl! Maybe he'll bite on an offer.
