Stupid firing. Raiders will still suck. Only now Davis get to pay someone else to lose, while still paying Kiffin's salary, as Kiffin enjoys the upcoming Rockets' basketball season from home.
Is that the best you can come up with? You take away the big 68 yard return and what are you left with? 5 returns for 68 yards.
You said he didn't do anything before or after. You're saying a 68 yard return isn't anything? I won't deny that this was the first time he's made a big play after a reception, but sadly, it's also the first reception he had this year. So what I'm trying to say is, throw the ball his way a little more often so he can use his speed to make more of those type of plays.
What a complete circus...Can't be good for the players or team for this kind of crap to go on and on and on...Finally done, but what crap...Here's hoping then get another #1 pick...
Please God tell me Al isn't promoting his head lackey Rob Ryan... his 4th quarter prevent-chicken-running-around-headless-scared-to-hit-anybody defensive play calling is atrocious.
Didn't the ESPN crawl say that Davis was NOT going to honor Kiffin's contract? What happened on that front? I think there was a 5PM press conference...
Al, as expected is going to try and dispute the contract to try and not pay him. Did anyone catch any of his rantings during an hour long presser? My god, he was still seething about how he hates Mike Shanahan, he's just a bitter old fool whose time has come and gone, even if he still understands football... he is too blinded by his hatred of almost everyone involved with it. He hates anyone who doesn't give him his due, he hates the City of Oakland for not giving him a sold-out stadium, He still hates Paul Tagliabue for blocking the trade that would have sent John Elway to the Raiders back in 83... this guy is ridiculous. His grudges are what make teams play extra hard against the Raiders, and everything that has happened to the team over the past 5 years has been almost poetic justice. I'm a life-long fan and each loss over the past 5 years, (all 64 of them) hurt, because the team has good players and good coaches and most of all good fans who don't deserve the horse**** Al Davis and his extreme hubris have put everyone through.
I disagree. I'm a big fan of Al Davis. He is the only owner who gives many diverse coaches an opportunity to be a head coach. Look at Bud Adams, he has had one guy as head coach for the past 10 years. Not much opportunity for outsiders.
When was stability a bad thing? I think too many teams, in all sports, play the coaching carousel too often. It gets ridiculous. Your team is not going to be good forever and there are going to be some up years and down years. Stick with the coach through all of them.
basically it means they can dispute paying out the remainder of his contract, as if his firing was not performance related, but for something else such as insubordination.
Al Davis said he talked to Kiffin after the Denver game, but Chris Mortenson said on Mike and Mike this morning that by "talking" it was Al ranting about the game and Kiffin over heard him and Kiffin asked him "Do you want to talk to me?" and Davis said that he didn't know Kiffin was there and listening Al Davis is a scumbag...Raiders won't be anything until he's gone. Kiffin on the other hand will land another job. Possibly a pretty big head coaching job in college.
Holy crap that press conference was a trainwreck. I felt so embarassed for Kiffin, but I was LMAO. Davis showed a letter on the projector he sent to Kiffin...it said something to the effect of "I know you didn't want to draft JaMarcus Russell. Get over it." LMAO. LMAO.
