Put Portland at the top of that group.

    <hr>

Did the Clippers do better acquiring Camby instead of Zach?

After losing Camby and Najera in the offseason, the Nuggets will be a mess next year. My prediction: they struggle to hit 40 wins, and they miss the playoffs.

portland will be in the playoffs next year, too much talent. they have a good chance at winning the division. maybe i'm just biased against utah.

The Clippers are already investing in Eric Gordon and Thornton.

    The 2 - 3 spot.

Where does AI2 or Josh Smith fit on this team?

Josh Smith can't get away playing the 4 out here in the West.

And I think you're underestimating the 2010 FA class.

Everybody, Morey included, are making moves revolving around that year.

With Camby, and the addition of BD, and with still their MLE to spend, you can't sit there and tell me the Clippers moved back or anything.

They'll be competitive, maybe not good enough to make the playoffs, or maybe so, either way, they'll be ok, and then come 2010, they can reload

Well, it's because the Clippers had Brand AND Magette get out of town.

They were well under the cap, which is why they could make this move.

Yeah I don't think the Clippers have their MLE.

I think they're still like $6M under the cap though

It's not even for a second round pick. It's only for the option to switch 2nd round picks with the clippers, so if clippers end up with a better record than the nuggets, then swapping picks wouldn't make sense and they just gave away camby for free....but they need cap relief and this move saves them 20 mill when you count in the luxury tax factor.

lol, I thought camby was traded for a 2nd round pick, but apparently its just the option of swapping 2nd round picks in 2010. Talk about low price, denver must have been pretty desperate to unload some money.

And take on his 11 mil contract for the next two years. I was not too impressed with Camby last year. Having said that, I still think it's a good move for the Clippers.

So the Clips basically swapped Brand & Maggette for Davis & Camby. Not bad at all..

So I guess Nuggets will not make it to the playoffs this year since they struggled even to make the 8th seed even with Camby this past year :D

Portland is in the same division as Lakers so there's no way they're winning the Pacific division. Utah is in a whole different division (Northwest). With that said... I'm guessing Portland finishes 6th in the West overall.

isn't portland in the same division of utah (nw)?

but for the top 10 teams in the west, i don't think there is guarantee for anyone to be in the playoffs. anything can screw you up since the competition is so close.
