Sources: Nuggets agree to trade Camby to Clippers for second-round pick

Because the Nuggets got immediate cap relief, and not expirings.

 

Sources are now saying that Denver indeed meant to give Camby to LA for nothing, but they inadvertently chose the wrong team in that city.

Now the Clips trade either of those centers for what they need. And yes, Camby to the Knicks for ZBo seems a great idea, and Kaman would fetch someone good, if they go that route.

 

I find the Camby love here disturbing...he's really really not the kind of player we need on our team, probably the LAST kind of player we need. Do you idiots really want to go back to scoring 70 points a game?

 

Camby is the anti-Battier. All stats, no real defense. Hell, Najera gives Yao more problems than Camby.

 

The only thing I could imagine that was thinking through the Nuggets office is that there must be another trade in the works.. I'm guessing they might be trying to do something with the Pistons involving Sheed.

 

WTF Camby could of been had for a 2nd round draft pick? Shoot I would of given them two!!!! This is the ultimate center backup we need for Yao to rest for large amounts of time.. On a side note I saw him at the Venetian walking around little Italy last Friday with 2 of his buddies who were much much shorter. I never knew you could trade all that salary just for a 2nd round pick?

The league should make a rule that after a trade is announced all the other teams in league have a couple days to make the teams better offers.

I agree, I find that hard to believe that Camby is worth only a 2nd rounder. But I guess Denver wanted to dump Camby without having to take any salary back.

 

Sounds like a good deal for Denver. Immediate cap relief and the biggest trade exception in the league that they can use any part of in a trade. I expect if they are serious playoff contenders they will get a good player out of that TE before the trade deadline.

 

They won't get anyone better than Camby. And haven't they dealt so many 1st rd picks to the 76ers that they can't offer any 1st rd picks to sweeten anything up?
