I'm starting to think you don't want a freaking season at all DD. Either that or you're just trolling. I will dance in the street if they agree tonight.
Not sure how you could read what I posted and come to that conclusion. I want a season, don't really care what the deal points are...... DD
I'd love to see PED testing, just so the Heat would become a mediocre team, but that will never happen.
Encouraging sign: Deal near on mid-level salary aspect http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/10/10/encouraging-sign/index.html
David Stern may be the devil, but he is incredibly shrewd. The 50-50 offer is actually more for the players than a lot of the owners wanted to concede and it just feels right from a public relations POV. Now, the NBA releases word that they've negotiated a MLE agreement to build further momentum. Now the onus is own the players to give in, at least according to Joe Public.
Regardless of negative opinions about him (which I certainly have), having a guy like Stern with one foot out the door is crucial to herding the owners on one page. You can be sure Stern didn't want games to be missed and whatever he agrees on will be accepted by the owners without too much flak. I definitely believe Stern has stayed on too long but I'm glad he's in place to help close this deal.
LOL!!!! That actually made me laugh. I think a better analogy might be people in the arts. People in these fields have very unique skill sets, yet the best in the world do not make a fraction of what NBA players get paid.
I can hear it now. "The Rockets wouldn't have beat the Heat if there were 82 games, they would get too tired. That one doesn't count, they should give the ring to Lebron."
They have a skill that people want to see. Not coding. But yeah, go ahead and keep making crazy irrelevant analogies!
When's the last time you saw an art show, competition, or documentary on TV? I don't know. When's the last time you saw a sports game? Exactly.
briancmahoney Brian Mahoney Reports of meeting over were incorrect. But fear not, I've been assured it's expected to end tonight.
The meeting or the lockout? I go with the former, but hope for the later. And what "reports" is he talking about.
Recent reports are now saying that Stern will "postpone" the 1st 2 weeks of the season rather than cancelling them all together if there's no deal by tonight.
