If this is true it would be great addition. Joe and Brandan would be great for our bench.
We have a spot open for Joe and cyberx said Black would be waive. So we could sign Brandan that way.

I’ll miss Black he just didn’t get into the system soon enough except for tonight he played great. Probably the last game as a Rockets.

I think that’s just reiterating what Windhorst said on The Jump today, but he said that’s the “word on the street”. Nothing official.

I just checked his Twitter I thought it was fake since he has one tweet about lebron coming to Houston. But he got it from the jump he has the video clip there. Idk his name but he said his sources say joe will sign with Houston. Tmac said it would be great perfect fit. Hopefully he does.

It’s not. But JJ has been linked to us so it may end up being so. But this guy just tweeted this in hopes of that so he can get people to think he’s an insider.

Even if we do waive Black to sign JJ, he'd just be insurance.

Green can barely get any PT with a healthy Ariza, so I doubt JJ would get any PT.

Maybe in the playoffs we see some JJ?

JJ would be used for situational matchups in certain games/series. Similar to how the Mavs used Peja the year they won the title.

Absolutely. The Brandan Wright deal is also just insurance. But it’s great to have that insurance. Again, remember last year an injury to Nene forced Ryno to center. An injury to EG would force Harden and Paul to play 40+ minutes a game. We definitely need a guy like JJ to make sure we are insured for any sort of injury anywhere in our roster.

But still, JJ is not a done deal. There is still lots of time for a team like OKC to reach out to his agents if a buyout is complete and offer him guaranteed minutes.

i don't quite get why black would need to be cut if we sign JJ. wouldn't it make more sense to cut troy williams?

if not for salary implications, i'd love to jettison nanu -- can't stand that scrub

@The Cat on twitter explained it makes more sense for the Rockets to release Black because of his one year deal. Nanu is still owed one more year on his contract. If Nanu is released, he is still owed that money and counts against the cap. It's just cleaner cutting Black.

Now that Wright is here, cut Williams and Black. Sign Iso-Joe to play some back-up 4/emergency scoring, and a SOLID 1/2 guard for insurance purposes. No more Weber or Brown types. This team would be ready for a serious run!

i still prefer keeping black as insurance for the playoffs. nanu's $1M salary next year is rolleyes for me when we have a chance to win a title right now.

I hope I wake up tomorrow and JJ will have committed.
We’re so hot right now. Keep it going!

me as well. people should not overlook just how skilled JJ is. his shooting and shot creation would open up the offense against elite defenses in the playoffs. this is a guy who can win us a game on his own when he gets hot vs. GSW/SAS/BOS

I get your takes on why you felt Melo would end up in OKC and why you feel LeDouche could end up there too, but waiver pick ups generally look to chase rings. Not play minutes on a dysfunctional that has fallen off the face of the earth since Roberson went down. JJ won't fill Roberson's shoes. And even if OKC was able to add Tony Allen to psuedo replace Roberson - they are still quite a bit behind where the rockets are based on public/player perception.

I could see Boston, Cleveland or Golden State as viable alternatives - but not OKC.

when you look at the other teams vying for JJ, they actually have a lot more depth and offensive firepower at his role/position:

CLE -- lebron, love, hood, green
    BOS -- horford, tatum, brown
GSW -- durant, donkey, iggy, west, casspi

while HOU has nobody at the forward spot who can even put the ball on the floor and get to the basket, unless you count green as a 3

OKC is also pursuing him and @ch44 has said that is what Joe Johnson apparently wanted. Ch44 has certainly been more reliable than any other insider we have.
