The reason JJ has had these good game moments the last few years is because he's been on the floor a lot, relative to his play.
This year, when he plays, he consistently gets 15-25 mpg.
Last year, when he played, he consistently got 20-30 mpg.

So with that, he typically gives you a "meh" game, with the occasional "WOW" game, and the occasional "damn he sucked" game.

So what's the bet here? That he can give you 10 mpg and since that's less than he's getting he'll be more effective and more efficient?

If so... ok... maybe. Just make sure he knows that's the plan, and given that's the plan, it will include a number of DNPs, and might also include, depending on injury, 25 mpg nights... when he'll be doing a lot more spotting up than typical for him.

It makes too much sense as a basketball fit for him not to go there.

He would be such an ugly fit in HOU, GSW, OR CLE.

If he is out right cut or waived, yes. If bought out, which is beneficial to both player (freedom) and team (less money owed), he automatically becomes a free agent and can sign where ever or just retire.

That's why I'm skeptical. Morey himself said he is looking for depth more than rotation players in the buyout market. Said whoever he might get would need to sign knowing that he might not get any minutes unless injury.

"Obviously, we'll see how that materializes over the next few days, but we think there are players who could be available that could help us. We'd be looking for depth. It would be hard to get someone who would play."

Yeah, how does adding JJ expose the Warriors lack of toughness and size defensively??

The best thing against the Warriors offensively is a stretch 4 that can really shoot well, or a bully 4 that can piss Draymond off. Well, that, and attacking Curry one on one with space.

I don't see how JJ helps there.

Of particular note, he was particularly bad against GSW in the playoffs last year.

Get JJ here just so he can foul the **** out of Durant every time he touches the ball then he can go back to the bench

Gotta admit tho.... those 2 bad mofos we have here make just about everybody look good or better than they are......

Honestly at this point I don’t think it even matters who you bring in as long as they have a translatable skill because CP3 and James will make use of them....

For sure, but that's actually exactly why I'd advocate bringing in someone else.
Like a player more used to/capable of playing off ball.
Or a defense first, rebounding first player since that's a need.

But if they want to bring in JJ, want his locker room presence, appreciate his familiarity with MDA and the "system", and think he has upside once on a team in the position the Rockets are in, then ok. He shot 41% n threes last year, but is down to 27% this year? What would he be on this team?

He would shoot around 40 percent due to the system and ball movement from hall of famers. Rockets focus and practice this.

Or hope a team picks up that contract on waivers and owe them nothing...

Personally I would prefer a playmaking pg but it just ain’t out there... or Chandler but is he gonna get bought out... seems doubtful as he doesn’t seem be a problem in Phoenix.... actually seems to be having fun there so I don’t see why they’d buy him out...

Ok so I just got done watching JJ Suns highlights! Can't wait to have JJ join the squad. Having a proven vet come playoff time when we go into our known stretches when the 3s aren't falling (and we let teams back in games) having ISO Joe is going to be pretty damn sweet!

    MDA and JJ reunite.

To do him a solid so that he could compete for another championship before he retires?

For anyone who saying he's washed up just look at these highlights from last year in the playoffs. Dude was clutch and could be a great asset to our team. Can't have too many playmakers especially against a team like GS or OKC. Plust dude is CLUTCH with ice in his veins.
