Seriously? I'd say the Nets have a much brighter future than the Knicks. Harris+Lopez is better than Amare+Felton, and Lopez is much younger than Amare.
Lopez is one of the worst rebounding 7 footers in the league. Right now Lopez might be closer to Nene than he is to Amare.
Perhaps that's why they traded for all those picks, maybe Morey gave the pick so that Melo goes to NJ and not the Knicks, thus increasing the knicks' pick value.
''No Nets Trade For Carmelo Anthony'' by Mark J Miller Denver's KMGH-TV may know something that none of us know about Carmelo Anthony's(notes) destiny as the channel reported last night that the Denver Nuggets were sending him to the New Jersey Nets. But Anthony and members of the Nuggets brass would also have to be on the list of those not in the know as well because they all denied such a trade was happening, according to AOL FanHouse. The station had it that Denver would receive rookie Derrick Favors(notes), Troy Murphy(notes), and two first-round picks in exchange for Anthony. Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri told FanHouse that there's no truth to the report and Anthony will be puling on a Denver jersey when the team takes the floor tomorrow against the San Antonio Spurs.
On one hand, the Nets have positioned themselves to be #1 when it comes to assests, no team can equall the package they can send to a rebuilding team. On the other hand, landing Melo does not depend primarily on what you can offer, all those assests don't do anything for NJ if the can't get Melo's commitment. (I have commented before that if Melo is all about winning then there's no way he chooses NJ) Nevertheless, New Jersey is the team to be if you are looking to trade big, even if it's not about getting Melo.
