Sources: Les Alexander has brought up a coaching change to Morey if things dont go as planned

Thanks cyberx, definitely believe this. Sounds more like a threat to Morey to do his job and of course McHale is Morey's dog. Still, I don't see Leslie firing McHale and if they bring in someone like Scott Brooks who will have to listen to Morey just like McHale, it won't do us that much good.

 

I would fire McHale and bring in Derek Fisher as head coach and Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen as top assistants.

 

Makes sense to me. Les is not getting any younger and our window is now. Get it done or find someone new Morey.

 

First of all, it is nice to hear Les expects great things from the current squad.

Second, inasmuch as I like McHale, I don't like the lack of discipline and failure of execution on the offensive and defensive end. Someby might point the arrow at Morey, but to me, the ax falls on the coaching staff to impress on the players the need to correct these failures.

If McHale gets the ax, I would give Thibs a chance. He may learned what works and what doesn't.

First time I hear this. As far I know he always had great relationship with his stars. It was Reggie Jackson Lamb and Perry Jones he couldn't work well with.

But at the same time I don't think his relationship with KD is THAT much of an appeal to tip the scales to our favour in free agency.

They were premature in handing the extension to him last December, but there's no way in hell he wouldn't have been resigned after getting the team to the WCF despite a buttload of injuries. And Les probably would've had to pay more than he did in order to keep him had he waited til the offseason.

Scott Brooks is not an upgrade over McHale. However in the aggregate, if Scott Brooks can help land Kevin Durant, the team is better by default.

Is sounds like Les isn't buying the "play harder" coaching excuse.

I like McHale. I hope he stays and the team wins. But the onus is on the Rockets coaching staff to make sure there is synergy between Harden/Lawson on the court. They need to be a deadly combo and right now Lawson is just playing the "Pat Beverley" role on offense and that isn't good enough.
