I think it's hard to compare.

To sell in the nba you need stars, Dwight and Harden.

Nfl is about team marketing. Attendance goes up based on winning.

Is any of this surprising? Yes, if we perform worse than last year, then a coaching change is a strong possibility. Interesting that a lot of people want Thibs. Is Thibs a coach that free agents would want to play for?

Rick Adlemam didnt like moreyball and left. If Mchale is fired , the rockets will hopefully get a coach with a reason coaching philosophy

Man I hope this is true.

WCF should be the goal. Going further than last year should be the goal and barring something terrible happening then that should always be the goal around here. Especially when we've seen a lesser team do it just last year. No excuses. Nothing about "The west is sooooo tough..."

I'd argue he did as much as firing each of his coaches. We know Rudy wanted to come back and Les had told him he would be back. He reneged on that. He also moved on from JVG and Adelman, not the other way around. As far as we know both wanted to stay. Les may not have "technically" fired any of them but he did show them the door.

All that said, I can't fathom a mid-season change and I have a hard time believing that not making the WCF would be grounds for a change. Then again, on paper this is probably the most talented squad we've had in my lifetime, and if they're not getting it done the one to blame is the coach.

None of this would be happening if we hadn't had that historically bad start and we're still only one game under .500.

Thanks for the tip though, cyberx. I believe you know your stuff. WCF seems an unfair bar to meet but we know Les is not at all queasy about making coaching changes as he got rid of three winning coaches in a row.

Not sure thibs would fit in with our owner/gm but we could win a title with him. We have the offensive firepower to cover his weakness. Problem is we have a lot of guys that are injury prone and he has a history of running his players into the ground.

the offensive firepower doesn't mean anything if his system doesn't allow the rockets to play the way they want to and that's fast. his offense is not predicated on that at all.
