Rudy was forced out, JVG basically fired, Adelman was also basically let go in the form of not having his contract renewed.

Him firing McHale 10 games into a season defines meddlesome. Him dictating how Morey goes about his rebuild (in which they lucked into Harden) defines meddlesome. Him wanting the Rockets to "be more like the Suns!" (rather than emulate actual championship teams) defines meddlesome.

He's not a bad owner... but he's certainly not hands off. Any coach taking the job would most definitely be cautious.

We're interpreting differently, and that's ok.

Any major sports team owner who is hands-off ala Auerback's situation is dated back to Red's younger days. Better Vive or Nyet or Buss a or b or Philly's sudden sea-change or Cubes in Big D? He is blessed w/a great great coach and a terrific Nellie jr, and still meddles.

Alexei the local bondsman ain't too bad. There will be no shortage of coaches interested in the expected opening.

guess only big named coach left is Scott Brooks since Thibbs is gunning for that gm/coach job in Minny.

Woj said we want JVG. His piece said nada about JVG's interest in us. I don't see how the two sources conflict.

Yeah, obviously. Was just thinking that probably (maybe just a coincidence) Woj chocked more on us than he usually does.

I can't fathom that JVG would work for the rockets again. Getting fired leaves hard feelings, especially if the circumstances were hinky. He can't need the money, and if he has the coaching bug - there are other options.

I' also assume that he would poison Thibs. Poison is an overstatement. Don't think JVG would be anything but honest, but he has ammo. Besides Thibbs was there and was fired too. I'd also guess that Marc Jackson would talk to JVG before accepting a job (if offered) from the Rockets. Though Jackson has less options available to him than JVG.

Who else is on the list?

Agreed. The Rockets through their mediocrity continue to milk those two titles so much and I feel like Les takes a bunch of credit for them.

First, changes the uni's (claimed not liking the yellow/gold), then kills hockey potential and the Comets, now this...

Good coaching candidates still remain, but Les is merely a decent owner, not in the "good" category.

Not sure... that info was told by a different poster (and no one said otherwise when it was presented).

The way he handled JVG was a true dirtbag move. It also involved trying to buy his silence by offering him a low paid consultant gig.

Already living in Houston should be an advantage.
