That's what I am hoping. Hoping that Durant is looking to turn the page and for the right situation where he can pair up with a top line player (Harden), in a big market for marketing purposes (Houston), and still be able to be a huge focal point of an offense (unlike SA & GSW where he would get less shots).

Hoping that Houston offers the right "mix", the right "situation."

according to Woj Spurs will be in the mix (no idea how they will have the capspace), and if Durant doesn't join them because he won't get as many shots, then his criteria is not winning. In which case why not go to the Lakers where he can get 40 shots a game become a movie star or whatever and win nothing.

The point is if he joins a team like the Spurs or Warriors, he'll be coattail riding, he might want to have a chance to win as "the guy", he can't do that there. If he goes to the Lakers, he's just an idiot like Melo.

How can Durant play for the Spurs when they've got Kawhi and Aldridge? Unless Kawhi is gonna swing over to the 2, but that could get exhausting chasing smaller guards around all season even for someone as good defensively as him.

We just need to cross our fingers at this point...

I think the Spurs basically need to sign Duncan and/or Ginobili at the minimum and trade Green or clear the bench (Diaw and Mills at least) to make enough room...so i'm not sure they'll at the end but yeah, you never know.

Is there a huge difference between chasing those guards around vs what he's currently seeing right now guarding Durant, LeBron, Paul George, etc?

The Spurs could easily deploy their own version of "small ball" by playing Aldridge at the 5, Durant at the 4 and Leonard the 3. That would definitely be something to see.

I think the Spurs reached a point where they can basically sign any kind of player and he'll just fit perfectly in their system but for what is worth i kinda agree with you, on paper just doesn't sound great...i think the Spurs will try to sign Pau, especially if Duncan is going to retire.

The WOJ report indicated the Spurs would trade Aldridge to make room for Durant I believe.

I'd like to read this report because it doesn't sound like a "Spurs" thing to do. They could easily shed their role players to accommodate all 3.

It does have to be "either/or."

We don't know Durant's criteria but it could be a mix of things.

    It could be
    1) Winning
    2) Winning and being a focal point
    3) Winning alongside a good friend
    4) Big market for marketing opportunities
    5) something else...

It could be all of those. It is the "mix." You could absolutely make the case that being added to the Spurs and GSW is coattail riding and while he wants to win, maybe he doesn't want to do it "that way."

I do think the Spurs are a threat. And I think they can just dump Danny Green's contact for nothing and with the cap going up, have enough room to add KD. So yeah, they are a big threat.

From the Rockets perspective, we just have to hope the KD+JH ties are strong.

Not happening. That would be a bush league move to trade a guy after only one season who left Portland where he'd been for a decade to join your ballclub. And never mind bush league. It would be counterproductive. Aldridge just helped lead you to a freaking 67-15 record. There is literally one team standing between you and a title in the Warriors. And we don't even know yet which one is gonna emerge victorious and make it to the Finals.

According to Bill Simmons :" jvg will want to go nowhere near James Harden. He wont come back to coaching at all. He likes too much commentating and its too lucrative and easy".

Simmons is basically just saying what he would do.... he has no idea what JVG really does or doesn't want to do. Simmons is often wrong, much like many here, and he owns up to it... but doesn't stop him from more hot takes.

That being said, I don't see JVG leaving for just *any* job. Its going to have to be the perfect situation for him in terms of where the team is from a competitive/potential standpoint, and the location of the team since he's not uprooting his family from Houston.

    1) Where did he say this?

    2) Well...if Bill Simmons says it then it's gotta be true

He said it in reddit yesterday. I will rry to find the link.

I know its his opinion but Simmons even tho no Woj or Stein is not exactly Thorpe or SAS who just makes things up unfounded. He has many sources and connections.
In my opinion he has mid level credibillity.

JVG always does Houston right when he has our game but it really seemed like he was going to extra mile yesterday. The "well if i were coaching i would...", "best half i've ever seen from James Harden", etc.

it just feels like he's gonna get the job with a hot shot offensive guru at his side.

    which is cool.
