Surely by also moving Brewer we would have the option of adding a max FA to Harden/ Dragic/ Whiteside (if we wanted to re-sign him?)

 

The cap hold is irrelevant because he has no bird rights, well unless u count early bird rights, so a max of the mle, which is why miami probably can't even re-sign him.

I don't mind Dragic's contract. To me Dwights is worse. Teague has just 1 more year of bargain value and I would see as the inferior player - by the end of Dragic's contract Teague may have earned more? I would rather lock down a backcourt player than run the PG treadmill for another 12 months.

And if Morey makes this move, one might expect there to be something teed up for Lawson - who knows if any value?

Could be a very interesting couple of days.... imho any moves will leave us in a position to throw the max..

 

Why is Dragic's FT% this season only 1% better than T-Jones

 

Everyone is thinking big, block buster trades. Think smaller lol. Think Gerald Henderson. Think Mirza Telectivic. Think Taj Gibson or Thabo Sefolosha. Maybe even smaller to be honest. That's how I feel about this trade deadline. When was the last time Houston made a huge trade deadline move that went through?

Think about it. Last season the acquisitions were Pablo and KJ for Canaan and Alexey. Season before was Brooks for Hamilton. Season before that Patterson, Aldrich, and Douglas for Thomas Robinson, Garcia, and Honeycutt. Before that, 4 seasons ago, it was Jordan Hill, Thabeet, and Flynn for Fisher and Camby

I think it's safe to say that in these past four trade deadlines the biggest player we've traded was Patrick Patterson, and the biggest player we've acquired was Robinson.

the 11-12 roster had Budinger, Lee, Lowry, Martin, Morris, Patterson, and Scola. All could have been dealt, but guess what? Instead Morey made two small trades and THEN proceeded to trade in the off-season when teams missed on free agent signings or wanted to add vets to the team instead of rookies.

the 12-13 roster had almost no one worth trading for a team other than Patrick Patterson.

the 13-14 roster had Asik, Casspi, Covington, Canaan, Jones, Motiejunas, Lin, and Brooks. One of them was basically begging to get traded, yet he didn't even get moved until the off-season. Just one trade that deadline. A pointless one.

14-15 roster had Canaan, Capela, Garcia, Johnson, Papanik, Jones, and Terry. Everyone was expecting for another huge trade. Why? The last 'actual' big trade didn't happen since 2010 when Houston traded Mandry for Martin.

Why do people keep expecting huge trades at the deadline? If Morey doesn't see anything he likes then he's not going to make a big trade. I mean, I do see Terrence being traded since he is a RFA, but it won't be a big trade. I can see Morey trying to move Brewer or Lawson, but not finding anything worth it.

Which is why I believe the biggest trades by the Rockets, if any, will happen either during the draft or the off-season.

If anything I can see Lawson staying, his last year being picked up, and then getting traded to a team that missed on their free agent. I can see Brewer being traded in the off-season to a team that missed on their free agent. Mostly because I doubt GMs are asking for Brewer or Lawson.

 

Dwight will be here and maybe we can get rid of one bad player in TJ, Ty and Brewer.

He just might be. But it won't be lack of effort on Morey's part to move him.

 

Horrible news about Bosh. It's a posibillity that not only will torpedo this alleged trade, but also cause him to straight up retire and end his carreer now.
Two clots, if it is a clot, in such a short time, it is irresponsible and criminal to not have him on blood thinners.

I really don't like the idea that Morey always pulls the trigger for trades before half hour of trade deadline.

 

stop blaming Morrey for things you don't know.

Bobby Marks said that 90%+ of the trades are completed at between 11 and 1pm at the trade deadline. And that's it because GMs wait to see if something better comes along at the last minute. It's good GMs who do it and Morrey is a good GM and should not be blamed for doing something that's in the benefit of the team.

You may not like to wait, but that's the way things are when you have a good FO.

 

This is where you have to decipher fact from fiction.

N-O-B-O-D-Y is going to give PHX a first rounder for Markieff. And they know that. So why are they putting this out there? Because they want to be able to move Markieff without adding an asset to him and perhaps they can salvage a second rounder for him.

PHX knows they have to move Markieff and get it done by Thursday or they then risk him becoming a total boat anchor and then having to deal him this summer with an asset or let him chew up a roster spot and cap space for the next 3 seasons being a jerk. They can't afford that. They have to clear him out. They're simply trying to keep from making a trade that costs them assets and recoup some sort of small asset for him.
