I think it is possible that we keep Jones. I also think it is possible that we let both of them go. What if DMo playes really well this year and gets a max offer? Morey may let him walk, just like he did with Parsons. At the same time what if Jones has an average or below average year, and he gets no good offers. Morey may decide he's worth keeping for a cheap deal.

The way Harrell plays this year could impact both DMo and TJones. If Harrell has a great year, then Morey may decide Harrell will be the starter and he may not want to pay big buck to either DMo or Jones.

A lot of different scenarios and it's impossible to know how it will all play out.

DMo and Harrell probably would be the best combination at PF going forward. DMo is the stretch forward that fits our offense, and Harrell is the banger in the paint on a rookie contract. DMo needs to get healthy.

A long-term contract has never stopped a coach from getting fired.
Whereas a disproportionally large contract for a mediocre player is harder to get rid of.

you make a very valid point. however, at the same time, does anyone here truly believe les would ever eat mchale's multimillion dollar contract? never

Yes, I do. Most coaches get fired with time left on their contract. Very seldom do they coach out their contracts and are then released. Most teams and coaches view the contract as severance pay. They don't usually go into the last season as lame ducks. It makes no sense for the team to be wondering what's going to happen to the coach in the last year of his deal. That sort of thing weighs on the team (and coach) in the locker room. A good agent doesn't let that happen to their coach. They keep getting extended for at least a year or more in advance of the last season.

Only hope is that Atlanta have a poor year, realise the roster won't get it done, and blow it up. Seriously, either Horford or Millsap would be perfect for this team. They would complete it.

Well minny has bjelika dieng towns and garnett and they must begin to put their cap in order coz they will have to pay two max (50 mil +) soon and shabaaz, dieng have rookie extensions coming up next year. And they have the albatross contract of pekovic in the books too. Paying 15+ to jones isnt wise for them.

People keep saying this. Why would the Hawks want to give up their best player?

Those two don't make enough to get horford salary wise.

Not saying they will or wont sign him, just that he'd be a good fit and I think they will have a little more interest than your crediting them for. Martin and garnett come off the books in 1 season and if im not mistaken pekovik comes off in 2, and its not like the salary cap will decline. As it is right now I dont think it would be wise for anyone to pay him 15+ unless he really steps up his game.

D-Mo's injury greatly complicated Morey's life.

Only because we needed him to play well so we can trade him.

It'll be hard to trade Dmo if he keeps getting injured

Both of them would be fools to sign an extension.

Players are going to be *over*paid this coming off-season.

That being said, I hope they do get PAID so that we lose both of them and instead land a legitimate PF.

Act fast before window of opportunity closes for the team.

I've wondered the same thing. And now they have Splitter to help ease Horford's load. Sports fans, Atlanta's not trading Horford!

    Shocked!

Fully expected Maurice to sign both players to life-time max guaranteed contracts!

Obviously now, perhaps, maybe, soon a trade is "Brewing" ... :)

Horford may get traded because he's expiring and he will be the second/third best available UFA next year free to choose his destination...but the chance of that happening is minuscule and it doesnt' even worth contemplating about.
The Hawks may win less games this year but they won't stay outof the playoffs to make Horford publicly say he's leaving.

Horford was asking for a trade two years ago but then he got injured. And then the Hawks the following year exploded to the first seed.

    This isn't surprising for anyone.

As I've said, it's way, too earLY at this point. Either way, it seems like the Rockets are InVEsTed in both players at the moment. Clint can't do what TJ can do. TJ can't do what DMo can do. Patience is everything. We'll get that 4Four soon.

Coming from the northeast, there's interest in both. I wnder where Morey's head is on all of this. My money says he sticks with DMo in the end, but I see a problem there already.

I will refuse to engage the usual suspects in the "who is better" debate, but even with his deficits, TJ seems to be the more durable player. Even during that epic Denver loss, he still played in the post and showed some new stuff.

DMo's injuries are concerning, not just for the Rockets, but for anyone willing to trade with us. Still, I think Morey rocks with DMo's potential.

    Alright, off to radiation.

I'm hoping the burn is just as tough on the Warriors tonight. And if McHale doesn't give Pat the start, I just....can't. Same with my boy Marcus...give the shooter a shot.

Pat looked amazing ...Ty needs time to come into the offense.

Peace, Love and some broken Curry ankles (not literally) from Beard.
