The Rockets are really playing with fire by not doing right by EG yet. I mean it's a year and half too late too.

If EG doesn't get traded to a competitive team this week he's going to get bought out, and it's not going to be pretty when Stone tries to play games to keep him till the Summer (so he can trade his expiring or whatever) and EG flips out, and dares the team to fine him for not showing up. EG has ALOT of dirt on people from the time he's spent here, and you really are playing with fire by not doing right by the guy.

ok kids. stone gonna do right like he always has. don't be blind and tone deaf expecting something to already be done and believing stone don't know what he's doing, brickheads. ego may be bought out. but only if we get another deal for draft pick value that includes buying out ego to make it easier for a team to sign him in conjunction with another trade. so put away your kazoos, toothbrushes, and switchblade combs and quit trying to stab daddy with 'em. it's time for bed.

Not so Cleverly disguised, damage control on an inevitable EG buyout. Nice.

It’s amazing to me how Rafael Stone and Darryl Morey couldn’t be more different.

Losing Morey was as big a loss as losing Harden tbh. Definitely one of the top GM's in the business, the only negative about him was treating people like assets most of the time. I'd give anything to have both Morey and D'Antoni running our current roster, the results would be infinitely better.

We don't owe him sh*t and no one will care if we treat him like a professional business.

Just get his a$$ out of here, he was a horrible role model for the kids. Whines on every play, hasn't played regular season defense in 5 years, threw his teammates under the bus in public rather than in the locker room. We thanked him for his contributions with this overpaid contract, we're not going to be thanking him for the rest of his life.

I honestly think that was more of a media thing though. Every GM treats players like assets…it’s literally their freaking job. However look at how players still respected him and how often he was interacting and joking around with them. He always had a smile on his face when I saw him interacting with them. He was always super professional and respectful when he was FREQUENTLY in the media unlike someone else we know.

Morey had to make alot of trades in those two years because Les refused to let him fully bottom out and he knew he needed to trade good role players for picks as currency to offer up in what would one of the best trades in NBA history.

But credit to Morey for continually getting player after player for nothing, putting them continually in situations to play sometimes beyond their capabilities, and then sending them to teams who envisions large roles and eventual paydays for those players.

It’s a big reason why I think Stone has this stupid Nix agenda. He’s so desperate to prove he can do what his former boss did numerous times. Find a player the league overlooked, trade him for a great pick, and bask in the glory that NBA Twitter and podcasters like Zach Lowe and Windhorst would be giving for his genius.

It’s so obvious and kinda pathetic.

When has Stone ever NOT done right by a player in trading to their preferred destination (or at least to a better situation? Possibly even to the detriment of the Rockets.
    • October 2020: Stone hired as GM
    • November 2020: Covington traded to Blazers
    • December 2020: Westbrook to Wizards (WB demanded trade and this was the only possible trade)
    • January 2021: Harden to Nets
    • March 2021: Tucker to Bucks
    • March 2021: Oladipo to Heat
    • June 2022: Wood to Mavs
The only possible transaction that wasn't in the player's favor was the year long benching of John Wall. However, based on results this year, he doesn't appear to be a net positive on a contender and had no trade value.

If Gordon could play against the Rockets defense, he'd look like prime Steph Curry. We'd be able to trade him for 4 FRPs.

    https://theathletic.com/4165190/2023/02/08/rockets-trade-deadline/

    • The Rockets know Gordon’s on-court value — which has been reinforced in the last few games — and understand what he brings to the team even as he approaches 35 years of age. This week, the list of teams with serious interest in acquiring the former Sixth Man of the Year has been whittled down to a handful of contenders — including the LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns — according to multiple league sources who were all granted anonymity in this piece to speak freely. Houston knows Gordon’s position on this matter. He’s made his preference for a trade known to management at different points starting as far back as last offseason, sources said — but has been professional and played his role throughout his time in a Rockets uniform.

    • But that doesn’t mean the Rockets have to trade him. For the past two trade deadlines, the front office has maintained the stance they would be fine holding onto Gordon if the offers were less than desirable. That line of thinking, despite them being more inclined to trade him than in years past, still remains. The Rockets won’t move him just for the sake of it. At various points over the past two years, Houston has received offers for Gordon’s services comprising of draft compensation and players, all of which have been turned down. The Philadelphia 76ers came close to landing Gordon during last year’s draft, sources said, but even that offer was declined.

With that being said, if a team comes in offering either a future first-round pick, an interesting young player or another defensive-minded veteran on team-friendly money who could kickstart their climb back up the ladder, Gordon’s days as a Rocket would be over. But from Houston’s standpoint, keeping him on the roster past Thursday’s deadline isn’t the worst situation. The $20.9 million on the books for the 2023-24 season is non-guaranteed. The Rockets could always pick up that team option and keep him (along with the other veterans they hope to bring in), decline it and attempt to re-sign him on the open market or pick up the option with hopes of trading him down the line as an expiring contract. As of right now, it’s not a “do-or-die” situation. And regardless of which side of the Gordon fence you’re on, there’s no debating Houston is a better team when he’s on the floor.

    • If Gordon isn’t traded by Thursday’s deadline, there’s no belief he would approach ownership in hopes of a buyout, a source close to Gordon said which was confirmed by a team source.

We don't know if Morey worked more with Witus or more with Stone.

Rafael seemed to be the all round guy, master of none kind of guy except law.

Morey would be a terrible GM for a re-building team. He is anti-tanking as they come and would have traded virtually all of our draft assets for mid-level veterans that would have left us in mediocre hell for 10 years. By the way, he still hasn’t won a championship and won’t again this year. Not saying Stone is great, but I do believe he has been much better at drafting than Morey. After this draft, if we want to bring in a more astute GM that is better at trading so be it.

Good. Let him flip out. If he's got dirt it would most likely effect Silas, Stone and KPJ. If that leads to getting rid of all three of those idiots it's a positive
