One line from Sam Amick's new story on Metta World Peace: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...eace-staying-with-los-angeles-lakers/2454455/ Amick is EXTREMELY plugged in with Dwight's inner circle. Probably the most of any of the true national reporters.
Let me make this clear to you: I don't take orders from you. I will write what I want, use whatever acronyms I want and evaluate people's comments any way I want so long as what I say is within the rules of this board. That's number one. For example, if you ask questions like "Why is Lin being discussed on an irrelevant thread?", I'm going to point out how you're wrong in characterizing the thread as being irrelevant to a discussion about Lin. Reggie Jackson? LOL!!! I actually used Reggie Jackson as an example of where the ABJ group would go soon. Hilarious. Reggie has a lot of talent. We certainly saw that in the 4th quarter of Game 5 and all of Game 6. Reggie Jackson could be a heck of a player. Do we have any indication at all that Jackson has anything close to Lin's ceiling? No, we don't. Jackson had a good year this year, at 5/2/2 and 14/6/4 per 36 minutes, primarily against back-ups. That's good. It's nowhere near as good as what Lin showed in New York or even at times this season. That's what the link about Lin's future prospects I put in one of the recent posts was about, from Nate Silver. Jackson hasn't shown anything like that yet, and maybe never will. Chalmers is an ok player. Not great. He's a clutch player, though, and I will give him that. Your version of what is a "reasonable" argument and my version of what is a "reasonable" argument might not match-up. If it doesn't, I will say that. I respect all the posters here. I also respect all the players on our team, which seems to be more than I can say for some of the posters on here.
Yeah, he is. He's also something of a Lakers homer. So, this might be along the lines of "Hey LA, you better get off your backside this week if you want to keep Dwight."
Dwight's given a number of lengthy exclusive interviews to Amick over the past couple years, most recently this March. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ard-los-angeles-lakers-orlando-magic/1976943/
Amick is a big-time Kobe guy. Loves Kobe. And he's tight with Howard, at least right now. And I think Amick is located in LA. So if anyone would know where Dwight's head is at, it would probably be Amick. Not just because he's tight with Howard, but also because he knows it hurts Kobe if Howard leaves. Another person similar to this is Ken Berger of CBS Sports. The difference is that Berger is located in NYC, while Amick is, I think, in LA. Great news.
Thanks for the info! Still, Dwight can change his mind at the last second, just like he did two years ago before the deadline.
in chat with darren woflson: Comment From tim any rumors on houston trading thomas robinson for draft pick this year? If so what teams are intersted? 1:49 Doogie: Swapped text messages with someone in Houston. Flip has spoken with them, but I don't believe Thomas' name has come up. Better chance Delfino's name came up. Flip has been very aggressive in talking to other teams. He swears he's spoken with everyone, and I believe him. didnt really answer my question, but hinted that wolves might have interest in delfino
Marc Stein on Howard: And the reality is that Houston is in the lead, if we're talking about Texas teams, when it comes to Dwight. The Mavs have to catch Houston first before they can even think about stealing him from the Lakers. Now, Dwight is the one guy who I've always felt, when Cuban gets in front of him, that's someone that Mark Cuban is really going to be able to sway. The problem is Dwight listens to a lot of people and is easily swayed by others too. It's going to have to be an amazing sales job by Cuban. And Dwight's really going to have to believe in the thought that Dirk taking a paycut is going to bring in somebody else significant in the summer of 2014. But then what you're telling Dwight is we're most likely going to need one more year after you get here to really mount a challenge. And that's a tough sales pitch. But the Mavs are in the game on Dwight; on Chris Paul, I just don't see it. Dallas Morning News
man, if this doesn't come to fruition, my heart will be broken.. never have i been so invested in the offseason on this forum.
I personally think that Reggie Jackson's ceiling is higher than Lin's. The difference is that I don't laugh at anyone who thinks the opposite. Do I want to trade Lin for Jackson? No, no I do not. But I can recognize plausible arguments. You seem to be on a personal crusade to shoot down anyone's opinion that Lin may not be good enough for the Rocket's starting PG job. Every single time. Anyways, good to see credible reporters thinking Dwight is more likely to end up in Houston. We still have to take those small blurbs in articles as a grain of salt though -- it's more likely they don't know any more than we do, and are just commenting on the overall feel of the FA picture.
You're welcome. Here's a bit more info as well: Sam Amico = FOX Sports = Maybe not the best information Sam Amick = USA Today = Usually very good information Sam Amico = Located in Ohio (I think) Sam Amick = Located in LA (I think)
Reggie Jackson's lost some of his quickness and I never got the feeling that he was a team kind of guy. Furthermore, why would you want to bring in someone who plays their best ball in October. I want a Mr. June. Still, it would be a home run type of acquisition if Morey could pull it off.
I would put Sam Amick in the same category as Woj. I would put Stein of ESPN just below those two. Those are three most accurate NBA reporters.
