Supposedly the Clippers want more than just Butler's contract being taken, they're leveraging this whole Dwight thing to the hilt (there's also talk of Bledsoe and Butler for Granger)

If they can't get ORL to bite on Butler's expiring, trading Green and Bledsoe sound fine. Grant Hill I guess would just be air. How's retirement affect his contract?

The only reason the Clips have to move out Butler and Crawford is so they can clear Blake to get Dwight. If they trade for Afflalo they're adding $7.5 million of salary on to their books. No Dwight....period. So, in my opinion, they will try to keep Butler's deal for something better and put together Bledsoe and the other two non-guaranteed deals to get Afflalo if Orlando really wants Bledsoe for him.

It'll be funny if neither Paul nor Howard come.

If I've learned anything in the last few years in the NBA, I know that the star will end up on whichever team he wants (excluding teams over the apron). If Dwight wants the Clips, he'll be on the Clips. Let's hope he wants the Rockets.

I don't think there is any Dwight plan, at this point it seems like they're using that as leverage to get favorable deals all over the nba, they don't want to give up Griffin for Dwight (just as they turned it down last year), their only issue is keeping CP3, why would they initiate contact with Indiana over Granger if their goal was to clear space?

They're not going to give up Griffin, Crawford, and Bledsoe for Dwight, lol

Do you think they're aiming for a roster of 2 centers and a point guard? (Garnett is NOT a power forward any more, much like Pau and maybe even moreso, his natural position is center now)

If CP3 wants Dwight, they would.

However, I kinda think there has been some sort of compromise between CP3 and the Clips FO. They're getting these old guys and he's gonna re-sign, sans Dwight. Then they can play in 2014 free agency.

    Woj:

On Halloween night, where is Doc coaching, where is Howard, Pierce, Garnett, Paul and who is coaching the Celtics and where is Griffin?

Doc, KG, and Paul will be with the Clippers. Dwight, I'd say there's a better chance right now Dwight leaves than stays and if he does leave, I think he's in Houston. They have a ready made team for him. Getting Paul off the market hurts Dallas because Dallas, Atlanta. Atlanta is completely out now. Dallas needed Chris Paul to have Dwight to have any teammates. They needed both for him to really consider Dallas. Houston doesn't need anyone with Dwight. Better chance Dwight goes to the Rockets. Celtics, I think it will be a young, uptempo coach. The way you see Ainge rebuilding here with Rondo, Jordan, Green, Bradley, that they'll play faster, obviously younger. I don't think Boston will spend a lot of money on a veteran coach. I wouldn't be surprised if Brian Shaw is a candidate. I think Boston will have to compete with Denver, who really likes Shaw. Who did I leave out?

    Blake Griffin.

He'd be in with the Clippers because if Dwight leaves, I think he goes to Houston.

    Full interview:

How is this working with Doc and Danny?

Yesterday, really over the last 36 hours, Chris Paul started to pressure the Clippers to get this deal done and if they wanted to keep him, they had to get this deal done. Get this done, throw the extra pick in and all but certainly lock him down with the Clippers. That's what started to happen. The Clippers called the Celtics back and started the dialog again. Last night, after Shaw interviewed with Sterling, Clippers management met with Sterling told/recommended to him we really need to do this, lets give them the pick, and get this deal done. I think there is a very good chance Doc and Garnett go to the Clippers as early as today.

Because of Chris Paul, leverage to the Celtics?

It does. Doc wants to leave. It's not a situation where they're begging Doc to stay. The rebuild is coming, it has come. ..... For the Celtics, it's a win-win. They wanted Doc to be their coach. But to get 2 first round picks and Jordan, who they like, don't love. I know DeAndre is excited about coming to Boston. This is a situation where Boston is ready to do this.

Doc & KG for Jordan and 2 picks?

Right. That was the structure as of late last night. It has changed at different points. When the Clippers called back yesterday, this is the conversation they had and the deal they brought back to ownership. Could the Clippers say we want to amend one more thing? Sure, it's possible. I was told there was a lot of confidence in the Clippers organization because of the way Paul pushed on this. They know they can't lose him. There are more deals they can make with Bledsoe and possibly Paul Pierce. ... The Clippers don't have a clear path to getting Pierce but it makes all the sense in the world.

Why does Paul have a love affair for Rivers that Shaw or Hollins couldn't do?

The whole package Doc brings. The Griffin/Paul relationship isn't great. Griffin has been upset over the last week to ten day. Griffin has felt the organization is putting his name in S&T talks with Howard. He was upset with that. The organization has tried to cover their tracks. It is possible it happens if the Lakers entertain S&T talks, which they have not to this point but could be re-visited in July. Paul knows to get to the next level, they need a championship caliber coach. ... He also knows getting Doc gets them KG. KG can do a lot for the Clippers.

Blake Griffin.

He'd be in with the Clippers because if Dwight leaves, I think he goes to Houston.

Brian Shaw at the top of the list today?

I wouldn't put him at the top. A candidate. The name Del Negro has come up but I've been told he won't be a candidate with the Celtics for among the reasons, he didn't have a great relationship with DeAndre Jordan. They won't bring DeAndre to Boston and have VDN there waiting for him. I know Danny likes him a lot. I think it'll be an assistant in the league right now.

I wonder if Lakers will try to use Clippers as leverage to get the Rockets into a S&T.

So the new report is that the Clips will only pursue Doc Rivers(for now) per league rules.

Does this hurt the rockets in their pursuit of Dwight? Or the clippers turn their attention to Dwight as a result.
