Would you expect him to say otherwise?

I think it depends upon what the question is or how he feels....Morey is cagey......

So, no, to your point, I think he is happy and is saying so.....but that changes if things go haywire....and pieces don't fit.

I believe he is happy also. Contextually speaking. Meaning, considering what his options have been to this point in improving the team. My point is: If he didnt feel we could contend for a championship, I very much doubt he would come out and say that under any circumstance.

No problem that you disagree. You just missed that Yao regressed with the foot and his minutes will be slimmed down and the emergence of Pau Gasol. Artest is coming to his own too.
I am just saying the old Sac team and the old Lakers team are better than this years Lakers and this years Rockets. Truth be told.
I am saying that although Yao is my fav player.

C'mon man. This dude has a rep and it is well earned. DaDa is right. He's had attitude problems and he hasn't played defense. To me, this smells like McGrady coming back. I would argue though that he is fairly efficient for an alpha dog. He measures up very well against Lebron and Kobe with his efficiency. He lacks in passing the ball. Dada is right that he has a well-earned rep as black hole. Just look at his assist numbers and compare them to Kobe, Lebron, etc.

However, I do believe Melo is a major, major talent. And I do believe he wants to win. He elevated Syracuse to a championship in one season. His career has hit a lull in Denver and it should be obvious for everybody involved that he wants to move on.

Does he fit here? Hard for me to say. Obviously, if he had an attitude adjustment, started D'ing up, and was willing to share the basketball, it's a no-brainer. But how do you know he's gonna do that? Risky.

100% my point......history is a good indicator of future results.

I think this is probably a smoke screen for a relatively smaller deal DM will make. I'm starting to get used to the idea that DM will just stack up on amazing roll players, but no superstar.

That mayberight but it is a life lesson for anyone to grow a thicker thin and don't bow to anybody.

While this may end up the case, I very much doubt it is his intent. As the saying goes "It takes two to tango". Their has to be someone available and willing to come to Houston for Morey to covert his assets.

Maybe one of those smaller deals will be that guy that is developing into a superstar.

Well, leading his team to a national championship is indeed an excellent indicator of future results.

Before the Spurs/Lakers there was an amazing run of championship teams led by players who had played in the NCAA championship game.

    Jordan
    Dream
    Zeke
    Bird
    Magic

From 1980 to 1998, 17 of 18 championships were won by teams led by players who had been in the championship game. (The one exception was the pairing of Dr. J and Moses.)

I am certain that if you look at Melo's NBA history, it is fairly checkered, and if the team is going to research its' draft picks, they need to damned well research someone they are going to tie up major $$$$ to.

Ok, again, skewing the results, neither Bird, nor Dream won the NCAA championship......

I wasn't skewing anything... I stated very clearly (and did so twice) that 17 of 18 championships were won by teams led by players who had been in the championship game.

If you'd like we can say that 12 of 18 were won by teams led by players who had won. That's still a very high percentage.

(Of course, since that time, the game has changed with the HSers coming directly into the NBA.)

Don't know if this holds much water. As much as I'd like for this to happen, there hasn't been anything since the first acticle a few days ago.
