And here it is folks. The truth comes out. The reason you are anti-Melo is because you fear that it will take Aaron Brooks to get him. Your idiotic manlove for a particular player changes with the seasons and now it has settled on Brooks.

I love how you talk about inefficiency with Melo when Brooks is the most ineffcient high usage player on the team.

You still haven't anwsered SamCassell on who you consider a "superstar" and I think that is because if you don't include Anthonly you will only have about 5 or 6 guys all of who are obviously not available. Lebron, Wade, Kobe, Howard, Durant, and Paul.

Morey has flat out stated that they are still looking for a star and Anthony is the definition of one. Not only that but he plays the position that is the weakest on the team.

Several years ago you contributed to this board but now you are one of its biggest problems. Man you have sure become a caricature.

I guess my standards of a superstar player are just higher than most.

Personally, I consider Melo to be a star player, but too flawed to be a superstar.

I do not consider Brooks or Martin as Superstar players either, but as near all stars.....

And you are right, all the guys I consider Superstars are not available, so you sit pat until you get one of them or develop one of your own.

You don't reach for players that score a lot of points but have issues all over the rest of the floor, especially, when they have motivation issues, character issues, and are inefficient for someone that takes such a high volume of shots.

I think Melo is highly overated, yes he scores, but does he make the Rockets a better team? That is all I care about......it is not about one player, but the overall team.

Does he fit in with Yao, does he fit in with Adelman's move the ball offense, will he play defense?

Just too many negatives for my taste.

Yeah, it is all my fault.

Sorry you feel that way about my contributions, I will try to do better.

True but it is also stated that Melo while he is a borderline superstar is one of the most inefficient ones.
Still a no brainer because he is the king of the scorers. The successor of McGrady and Kobe as the best scorer.

By not giving up too much you could have Melo and Yao on one team
Lowry, Patterson, Miller and other young players on the second one

I guess I just remember all the lebron and carmelo hype and have not had a chance to see carmelo play that much over the last couple years. I've seen Lebron a lot though.

    I need carmelo hilights.

btw, why can't I open the other melo thread?

I understand that we might not give up too much, the point is that Melo does not share the ball, he shoots too much, and is not that good at it...

Guys who get theirs over the needs of the team are huge red flags for me.

I understand he scores a lot, but he shoots a lot, and this Rockets team has shooters all over the floor, if one is doubled, someone else is open, I just don't want a ball stopper.....and Melo is 100% a ball stopper.

Carmelo is widely regarded as the smoothest scorer and easiest looking scorers there is among NBA analysts.
Plus he is clutch. so there we solve a problem. Whereas Tmac was more of a jumpshooter, he drives to the hole regularly.
Yes. He is a ball hog but most best players of a team have that tag.

The thing about high standards is we are in no position to choose like in a supermarket. So DD, whoever is on yr list.... I suppose Durant, Lebron, DWill cannot be had.....
    CP3 is a ballhog himself

Again DD, you are just talking about your ass without having actually watched the guys game. You continue to make assumptions about him like he has an ego, he is a bad defender, and is a selfish player. Where do you get this from? because they are not true

Right, so my take is, if you can't get one of those, then don't settle for the flawed guy who thinks he is on their level but just isn't.

If you can't get a superstar player, than beat them with good players in a team type of environment, much like the Sacremento Kings and Detroit Pistons did a couple of years ago.

Out work them, play as a team, have multiple options, take the hydra approach instead of the snake.

And hope (I know it is not likely) that one of your players develops into a killer, or you can get a true killer in trade, or pick up another one that develops into one.

Don't chase at the poker table, play the cards you are dealt......and then strike when you get the chance.

Rhino, WTF is wrong with you? I have seen him play plenty, and am giving my opinion about his game. There are no assumptions here, there are plenty of people who talk about how bad his defense is...why don't you try not being such a jerk and actually engage in discourse?

I understand you want the guy, doesn't mean everyone agrees with you or ignores the guys warts.....I disagree with you....BFDeal !

I kinda agree. It does feel like Tracy part deux again. I am torn between the options. But if we can form a second unit with good bench players like the Suns or others... we still could make the Princeton offense work with Carmelo.
Carmelo's clutchtivity is beyond words and is what Aaron and Martin are missing a bit. Plus he can get us going in iso plays when there is an offensive drought.

I posted this on another thread, but that thread called "Q&A on Carmelo Anthony’s alleged interest in the Houston Rockets" disappeared.

    1) What is the source for Melo's supposed teams of interest?
    2) If the NY, Houston, NJ rumor is false, why hasnt Melo refuted it?
    3) What is the real reason he wants out of Denver? If its to win a championship, his choices are a bit baffling.
    A) NY - Even with Melo there, their no chance of a championship soon, especially factoring in what NY will have to give up to get him.
    B) NJ - A bit more promising, but their track record at getting to the playoffs recently is non-existent. Not to mention, again, what they may have to give up.
    C) Houston - A good choice if not for all the uncertainty concerning Yao. And thats some pretty major uncertainty.

It cant be just about money for he has a 3yr 65M offer on the table. Could he think thats not enough?

Perhaps its the "Heat Syndrome", whereby he is jealous of what they accomplished, and wants something similar? Cant see this at all at least until he is a free agent. And even then, what team has positioned themselves to sign 3 near max players for 2011/12? And what other players are available then? Not CP3. I believe he has 2 years left on his contract. Joe Johnson just signed long term. The answer? No one. Not 3 players of the Lebron/Wade/Bosh caliber.

Which brings me back to that he just wants out of Denver. Perhaps all the management turnover recently? Perhaps just convinced they cant win?

Perhaps this is way way simpler than any of this. Is it not possible he is just uncertain what he wants and has no plan at all? I mean, no preconceived blockbuster ideas on the table? All the hoopla might be nothing more than a uncertainty on his part whether to take Denvers extension, period. All the rest could be pure speculation.

I am not worried about Melo being able to get his own, I am worried that it won't make the team better.

Because with Melo dominating the ball, and not willing to pass it, the defense gets a much easier time of defending.

What does him dominating the ball do to the rest of the Rockets players who are on the court? Right now....the Rockets are going to be really hard to gameplan for....

For the first time in as long as I can remember they have 5 starting players who are a threat to score the ball......they are so well balanced....

And all are willing to pass, and play the team game, that is my biggest fear with Melo, he is a guy who hogs the ball, doesn't play defense and is a low character guy....

I just do not think he makes the Rockets TEAM better....he is a better individual player, but I don't believe he is the kind of guy you can build a team around because he believes, or plays like...he IS THE TEAM.

This team hasn't proven anything and Melo while having consecutive first round losses was in the Conference finals before.
I did not say I wasn't prepared to go to war with the current squad. It's Morey's team. So it seems. He makes the trades. I don't know what he is thinking... otherwise he won't talk about acquiring an allstar or borderline allstar all along.
Adelman has his players....BMill and AB from Oregon, so I think he is pleased and as a player's coach he does not seem to dislike the idea

Morey says a lot of stuff, some of it the truth, some of it for marketing, some of it to keep the fans interested.

I am sure he wants a Superstar, so do I.

I guess the issue is that I don't think Melo is that Superstar player, I think he is a "Me" first type of player, so much so that it eventually stops the team from being all that it can be....

Just my opinion though....and if the Rox get him, I will cheer him on...but I am hoping that Morey and the Organization feel as I do, that he is not worth the risk.

You give no explanation as to why he has a so called "ego," or "bad defense," you give no explanation for anything, just restating the same stuff.

The more I think about it the more I come to the conclusion it's all about Morey. I am afraid he won't let team come together. He is always in talks with player movements and acquisitions. Don't get me wrong. He does his job but by constantly trying to tinker the roster with 'better players' the current players do not have anytime to gel. Maybe it just the market and the Yao situation.
Our objective is WIN NOW again and it does not seem to be WAIT until Aaron, Kevin or TREVOR develop into CAPABLE allstars!

Go out and read some of the articles on Melo, read some that have been posted here, do some research.

Heck most of it has been posted on this very board, though admittadly that is a lot to have to search through.

When this was first announced, I was like...OK, that might work if we don't have to give up too much......even though I had my doubts about the way he plays the game, and yes, I watched more than a few of the Nuggets games these last few years.

Then I decided to cruise the webs and see what others are saying about him, what articles have been written etc, what type of teamate and player would the Rockets be getting.

It was then that my fears were confirmed, that all the negatives that I saw in him others that had followed the team more closely did too, and they were not as kind as I.

A good number of them want him gone, if he is that good, why would their fanbase want their best player jettisoned to start over? I mean he is 26 years old.......that is a major red flag right there.

I know you like the guy, I can respect that......I do not like the guy, I hope you can respect that as well.

And it is not my job to make you believe one way or the other, there is enough support material floating around, go find it.

I hope not, I hope Morey is more of a builder, because too much turnover is just as bad as not enough. It is a delicate balance, so far, I think he is doing a great job.....and has earned the benefit of doubt.

I did that as well and got basically the same accounting of him. Unlike you, perhaps, I do think the Rockets need another star player. Im just way short of being convinced Melo is the one best for the Rockets.

As it stands now this team seems to be relatively good on paper.
Compared to the Sac team this team does not pose any threat to go really deep.
Sac team was elite... playing against the Lakers on their level.
I doubt that with this team....that is why Morey is trying to improve the roster. With a set Sac team he won't HAVE TO.

I disagree completely, with a healthy Yao this team is better than the one from 2 years ago that went 7 with the lakers.

Morey has said that he is happy with the team and is ready to go into camp as is......

And clearly it is his job to improve the roster, but sometimes you need to see how they play together on the floor first before you make an uneducated move.

Sort of like Ariza, they watched him for a year, and realized he was not going to work out as well as they thought so they moved him....

The same could happen to anyone now that Yao is back...even my favorites could struggle and find themselves on a train out of town.

But first, I think the team needs to play some ball to find out who fits and who doesn't...before making any more big moves.
