NO to Melo. He would only get in the way of Kobe Budinger's development.

Seriously who in their right mind would trade for Carmelo when we have Budinger, the next Kobe Bryant. It doesn't make sense?

I have to believe Melo is high priority but with Nugs GM-less I suspect the hot iron must be wielded at the ownership level of Rox and Nugs.

Owner Alexander needs to get this thing rolling; the longer it drags the more entrenched Melo could become as "Knicks or no deal".

Bosh's list wasn't BS. Each team had that was on the list had something that could offer Bosh and he was legitimately interested in.

LA- play lap dog to Kobe. Ultimately the Lakers lost interest when the Raptors wanted Bynum and Odom in return, 2 key peices in their championship run. Bosh couldn't sign outright with them because they didn't have the cap space.

Chicago - They had capspace to sign 2 max level free agents outright. Ultimately, the Raptors balked at the idea when Chicago wasn't including Noah in the Sign and trade. Bosh would have gone here if LeBron or Wade had signed with the Bulls flat out anyways.

New York- Same as Chicago, but they didn't have a supporting cast already in place. Bosh would have gone their if LeBron or Wade signed their as well.

Miami- The place that he ultimately chose. You could argue that was the destination for him all along but that hasn't been proven and never will be. All this could have changed if Wade had gone to Chicago as the rumors had it.

All these teams had one thing in common, they all were brought up numerous times from insider sources. All had a more than likely shot at him. Houston was never in the consideration and was never reported by any legit insider, like Chris Mannix, as a viable option for Bosh.

The list of teams was not BS.

This situation is quite similar and different in a way. We have actually been mentioned as a viable option for Melo by a legit source. Chris Mannix is as legit as they come. There is no leverage for Denver or Melo to include Houston because NY will not have a chance to trade for him, they have no assets.

Also, Melo's decision doesn't rely on another free agent or player because he wants to go to a legit contender with a big man. Also, Melo can't risk not signing an extension because unlike Bosh's situation, the uncertain CBA looming might doom his potentional contract.

New York - same as Chicago, but they didn't have

It's kind of interesting how 3 of the 4 teams in that 3 team deal ALL got something to do with melo...think about it.

So now the list might include Hornets (makes sense - Paul)?

    NYK
    NJN
    HOU
    ORL
    NOH
    CHI
    [DAL]

The "Denver made up the list" crew..........nevermind. Play on.

Nuggets (or even Carmelo) just checking Carmelo's market value. Nothing much to get excited about really.

If this Carmelo thing develops into something serious, hopefully it doesn't drag and drag for a long time. Primarily because I wonder if it would become a distraction to some of the players, whose names could potentially be involved in a deal. Brooks? Martin?

Broks & Martin will still be with the Houston Rockets.
As essential core players they should not be traded!! :p

I'll be surprised if this rumor has any legs. I really don't think Denver is willing to part with Melo, and after living there for many years, I don't think Melo really wants to leave Denver.

But, then again, a change of scenery can be good anyone. Hell, Larry Hughes contributed in the playoffs for the Bobcats under Larry Brown.

    Is melo worth it?

Eddy Rivera of TrueHoop Magic's blog + stats:

" Is Anthony a top five player? No. Is Anthony an efficient player on offense? No. Anthony’s True Shooting Percentage and effective field goal percentage were at or below the league average last season. Granted, Anthony’s Offensive Rating was 110, which was above the league average. Also, if there’s a bright side to Anthony’s obscenely high usage rate (33.4 percent in 2010), it’s that he does an excellent job of taking care of the basketball. That being said, Anthony doesn’t compare favorably to his peers offensively. Yes, Anthony can score and if there’s one thing the Magic desperately need, it’s a dominant perimeter scorer, but he does so with nary an ounce of efficiency."

Interesting article. But I still think we should try to get Melo, I mean what alpha dog on our team currently will win a 'ship? He would be the best on our team and we will have a better chance of winning a championship with him than without him.

I mean who thought Paul Pierce could win a title as an alpha dog before 2008?
