    Anthony also OK with Rockets

Time to add another team to Carmelo Anthony's list.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reported on Wednesday the Melo is open to signing a long-term deal with Houston, if the team can offer Denver an "acceptable trade package," according to multiple league sources.

Mannix also confirms the Nets as a destination Melo feels the same way about -- a team we've already discussed in conjunction with him on Wednesday.

    To the Trade Machine, friends!

Trevor Ariza would have been a decent choice to send back here, but he was just shipped to New Orleans last week.

But if Denver is just looking for money relief for Melo, Houston could be their best option, as the Rockets have a few larger expiring deals.

    To the Trade Machine!

Anthony for Shane Battier (in last year of deal paying $7.3 million) and Jared Jeffries (in last year of deal paying $6.8 million) would work.

The Rockets also have the rights to the Knicks' first-round picks in 2011 (top-1 protected) and 2012 (top-five protected), so they can add in some draft picks to sweeten the pot.

While the Rockets might not offer the most attractive package talent wise, if Denver is looking for some money relief and the option to rebuild a bit via draft picks, Houston is a pretty solid option for the Nuggets at this point.

There is nothing for Houston to go along with. It could be true that Melo has us on his short list - maybe, maybe not. How would we know? We can't talk to him. We could only talk to his agent who would also stand to gain financially if he kept his mouth shut or played along. An agent with morals would of course tell the truth but Jerry McGwire was just a movie.

3 people know for sure: Denver, Carmelo and most likely his agent. Denver has a lot to gain of course. Carmelo and his agent also have money on the line because the SnT now is way better than a FA signing under the new CBA. If they spout of that this is not true and NY is the only place for him, I'm sure Denver would get POd and not help him in any way. Then he has wait 1 year and take a pay cut in the end. He has motive for playing along.

I'm not sure it would weaken the Knicks that much. As I said, I don't think anyone expects them to unload every good player from their team, just 1 maybe 2 more. Randolph would be a nice prize that maybe NY wants to keep as a backup and insurance policy. Carmelo may not want to take a pay cut because of someone who will play backup to Amare. And since the NYKs have to renounce all their expirings to sign him they might actually be weaker if they get better offers and leave.

Why didn't Chicago come out last year and say, "We never made an offer for Tracy". Because the more NY gives up, the weaker their foe becomes - probably got a good chuckle at them getting played too. There are suttle reasons for everything.

Maybe being a Rocket fan makes you see things in a particular way and that's fine. Sometimes I wish I was that way. But do you really think the other team on his short list would be the Nets? A team that almost took the infamous L record? A team in total rebuild mode with no good pieces (please don't pick players from the Nets last year and say they were good - if they were, they would have won more). Without Melo, I expect 20 wins from that team. With Melo, maybe 30 depending on who they give up. Doesn't sound like good times. Melo wants to be part of a big 3 and be part of the limelight back home on the stage. On the Nets he'd be the lone 1 on that "other team". If the Nets don't make sense, then the rumor itself is suspect.

There is probably a better chance Melo comes here than Bosh did.

Frank Isola says it's 4 teams on Melo's list: Chicago, Houston, New Jersey, New York.

Memo to Morey: We Don't Need Melo!

Memo to Morey: We Don't Need Melo!

The only thing Carmelo Anthony brings to the table is scoring, his defense, attitude, and overall demeanor sucks! he's T-Mac part 2 without the passing ability of McLady. with Martin,Brooks,Scola,Ming, and Budinger the last thing this ball club needs is scoring. What we need is for skilled length in the frontcourt to help a still recovering Ming battle with the huge front-line of the Fakers. If it isn't a trade for that type of player i don't want to trade! Physical defense like the type that Artest brings will easily get into the head of ya'll's favorite son Carmelo_Once again Kobe will roam around with no one to guard once we trade away Martin. Kobe will conserve all his energy to rip out our heart's in the fourth quarter. This team as it's currently constructed gives us a better chance against the Lakers, with Martin, Brooks,Lee, and Lowery there's no roaming for Kobe he has to guard someone. and with Miller,Patterson, and a hopefully improved Hill we've got a lot of bodies to help Scola and Ming on the front-line. This team needs to be given a chance to succeed against the only team that matters in the west,THE LAKERS! Morey, please don't gut this team for a guy who at any moment could be suspended for sucker punching an opponent when he's not looking, or be caught blowing dro and sipping lean in the bathroom of a local strip joint.

So obviously this guy is a tool....we cant offer as good of a package talent wise?????// NO TEAM can offer the combo of expirings/talent/draft picks AT VALUE that we can.

We base a package around Martin/Budinger(400k) and Hill (plus expirings or do a seperate trade with TE to save more money)

We can offer straigh cap relif with Jeffries Battier, hill, budinger and lee (draft picks...sergio lulls rights...)

I mean litterally I would take TE seperate deal...budinger, hill, and lee and draft picks over any offer that any team can give...and the funny thing is that wouldnt even effect the core of our team.

Plus we can add Brooks...i mean seriously...I am not saying we will offer that much but we could and it would effect us less then say Terrence Williams and Favors will effect the nets.

The $ still has to be within 25%. Does NJ have 3-4 players that they can move to make it work? And by make it work I mean beat any deal that we can offer?

you know he's not a free agent. Whatever leverage may come, it would be from denver, not melo.

I havent really said much in yalls debate about whether melo is an elite player or not blah blah...because it wasnt worth arguing because I knew daryl knows he is probably the best scorer in the nba. (not the best offensive player "not a good passer" or best player but best scorer)

Melo...would be twice as effective in our system with yao. Litterally you could play post repost with yao and melo all day and kill people.

Melo is the best post up wing player in the NBA...hes got a great mid range game and can finish at the rim as good as anyone.

You have him pass to yao in the post if yao does have a good shot you have him pass back out...now if the defense collapses on melo you repost to yao and dunk...if they stay on yao...you have an open shot for melo...if the d scrambles then Melo drives and Yao is there for the put back/rebound.

honestly Yao and melo with the team we have ...will beat every team in the nba. There is no defense for that....because if they play tight on melo he can smoke his man off the dribble...if they double team and front yao...then we have the OS shooting to make them pay. Just imagine the D double teaming and fronting yao...double teaming melo...there is 1 player to cover 3 ...it would cause chaos to any defensive scheme.

I would love watch our team and love watching us beat miami...and rub it in boshs face every time!
