Good theory but the only way that works is if both Anthony and Houston play along. If Denver started the rumor then it gets shot down as soon as Anthony or Houston denies it.

Same question that I asked earlier: If it's just a rumor created by Denver then why does Anthony go along with it? He wants to weaken the team that he's going to go play with? That makes no sense. If he truely wants to go to NY then Denver doesn't really have an option. Isn't that what we saw with Cleveland and Toronto? Lots of talk about "we won't consider a SnT", but at the end of the day they did and got little in return.

If it reaches the point of Anthony becoming a FA, NY can have the cap space to sign him so what's Denver suppose to do? They'll have to cut their losses and take what they can get.

I realize that it's a strange idea, but maybe the mention of Houston as a possible destination really means that he wouldn't mind playing here. No, that's just too outlandish an idea. Nowhere as believable as a giant snow job which includes Anthony and the Rockets being in the whole charade.

Why do people keep saying that Houston is being used as leverage?

Doesn't the idea of him actually like Houston shock yall?

Carmelo has made it known that he wants to play with a all star calibar center and the teams that have been routinely mentioned are New Jersey, Orlando and Houston, all that have an all star or near all star center.

Also, like many have stated on this board, why would Melo try to use Houston as leverage? Only to gut the NY roster even more? Doesn't make sense to deplete the assets of your potentional team.

I seriously believe Houston has the double edge sword. Carmelo has intentions of signing an extension with us and we also just happen to have the most assets in the league. Young talent, proven talent, quality draft picks and quanitity trade exceptions.

and like the Lakers, if Houston gets Carmelo in a lopsided deal they will win championships as a result. this is where Morey makes his bones if he gets this thing done.

as for the leverage, it's not specifically because it's Houston but putting Houston on a leaked list will put pressure to the Nets that the Nuggets would be potentially move Carmelo somewhere West rather than get pittance back for him. otherwise NY/NJ could assume that they were in the driver's seat as the only real destination that Melo wants.

I wonder if the reason why Houston's name was dropped so prominently is precisely because of the assets Houston has accumulated. It makes a lot more sense than say a trade to New Orleans or San Antonio. Not saying it's a lie that Carmelo would be okay to come to Houston but it's odd that the teams are NY teams and Houston with no other teams mentioned.

All dark skinned people must be light skinned and portrayed in a classy way: suit, bow tie, and top hat.
