Um, the title of the thread says along with the article that he's open to a multiyear deal. So if this were to happen I would assume it'd be with the promise of an extension being reached as well.

No way the Rockets will give up all of their assets for a rental. Morey knows the only way to do this is with an agreed extension in place.

I am pretty excited about this, this is completely different than the Bosh situation...we always speculated Bosh SHOULD be interested in Houston, in this case Melo actually expresses interest which is a good sign.

I think the Rockets most definitely has the best trade pieces of any of the teams involved...

I'm pretty certain any team that trades for him would insist he signs the extension before they make the trade.

I still have the belief the Knicks offer them some sort of minor package and they go for the lower offer just because Carmello wants to go there the most. This is still not a story until we are serious contenders. Although intriguing. Not gonna get my hopes up untill its truly proven this ball club would do whatever it takes to get Championship players like that here. I mean whatever. Down to and oncluding trading Yao for a guy like this. I still dont believe they will do it. However Morey has made some great moves in the past. Who knows?

and what's wrong with too many people attacking and drawing fouls?

Is there a penalty for that?

Lowry's a much better passer/playmaker...hypothetically speaking on a starting line-up with nothing but scorers.

I guess I don't understand...I thought getting to the foul line was a good thing.

DD, 25% of nene and carmello is 21m. Murphy, williams, favors, and boone is 20m, but nj is 2.5m under the cap. They can make that deal and if anyone is going to get carmello, nene is going with him. If they get rid of nene, they will only have about 30m committed to payroll next yr in denver. Favors is closer to a center now they have looked at him. martin expires after this season. Denver is trying to start over with high end young talent.

That would make the Nyets a lot better, and it would help the Rockets too by making them a playoff contender over the Knicks.

If the Rox are not really in the race, or being leveraged, I hope he goes to New Jersey.....NOT NY....but Brooklyn (Where he is from, you know).

Aren't the Nyets moving to Brooklyn anyway? Hmmmmm???

Please please please please oh God please make this happen. He fits beautifully within this system. Best of all, Yao's health because much less of issue. 25 minutes the rest of his career? Fine. Melo, Yao, Brooks FTW!!!!

We are being lerveraged. No need to talk about this stuff. They could get the most from us. So I find it kind of ironic they leverage the teamn they can get the most out of instead of just taking their offer serious. Knicks have practically nothing to offer of worth and the NEts would have to give up their draft pick, future draft picks, and thats pretty much all they have besides the guy they drafted.

If Morey can pull off a Melo deal, man oh man! I think he'll go to NY, but if we have a chance at getting him, let's go balls to the wall on a deal.

Ugh, so many erroneous posts in this thread, but this is what we knew before this article appeared:

    1) Melo wants a SnT now (this season) so he can get max money under the current CBA, because after next season he won't have the same options as his Olympian teammates did this year as an UFA. He has no interest in being a rental.

    2) If DM/RA and Les are down with this we can lowball all day, everyday and see what's being offered.

Even if you hate Melo, this situation is the very definition of what Morey has called an extremely rare opportunity. If Morey's not all over this, then Les has vetoed it.

RA, well I have no idea what he would think. But the one thing I agree with is, if we do this deal you don't let go of KM.

The Rockets are betting on Yao period, and no matter what your opinion is about that, it is reality.

A combo of Melo and KM at the wings would be sick. They both draw tons of fouls and nail fts. If teams want to leave Yao or Scola at either elbow, that'd be cool with me too.

Even if all this turns out to be "leverage" (which in this case just seems ridiculous) it will tell us something about Morey.

Why wouldnt we use the best offer? We are never gonna be contenders without a guy like this. I would be dissapointed in knowing they think they can pass on Carmello.
