To summarize the Mannix interview:

-If Melo were a free agent today, he would sign with the Knicks obviously that isn't the case.
-says there are some other factors in play that made Melo expand his list to include Houston and New Jersey.
-wants to sign extension this year before new CBA but not with Nuggets
-says Denver management and Melo are 50-50 on controlling where he lands. One might have more leverage than the other.
-says Nuggets won't get dollar for dollar value but will want to get young player, picks, expirings, etc. Says Houston is in great position for trade.
-goes on to say that Denver doesn't want to end up like Cavs and Raptors. Expects a deal before the deadline.
-mentions that Denver will want an impact player included in package; nets will offer Harris or Favors, Knicks will offer Gallinari and thinks Brooks will have to be included in deal.
-says he thinks that Melo sees Houston as a team that can compete with Lakers despite no big 3. Likes Martin and Yao (if stays healthy).
-says Melo has butted heads with Karl and hasn't grown much as a person but his game has grown considerably. Thinks he's a franchise player.
-mentions the four team trade earlier this week. says it was financially motivated. Goes on that Houston isn't a major market team, not on the level of LA and others but they stay aggressive.

So Troy Murphy is untouchable in a Melo deal? Come on now. You may as well say they wouldn't deal for Anthony since Outlaw is being paid $7M to man the 3. Kris Humphries gave them 20 mpg last year at the 4, and it's very possible they could expand the deal to take back Nene.

Alternatively, the Nets could trade away their current SFs to get back a replacement 4.
