    Teams with high draft picks.

Favors >> anything Rockets can offer.

Unless we're willing to part with a Scola or Martin, I don't see this happening. And I don't think Scola can be traded until December, am I correct?

What would Denver want with our bench players? Budinger is about as promising as we have, and I'd rather have him in the long run than Carmelo.

Obviously, it would be nice to get something for our Trade Exception, but holding on to the first rounders we have could be nice.

I could see Morey throwing in Brooks. It be tough to see, but might be necessary and makes sense for a few reasons.

    1. Lowry seems ready to play starter minutes. He's getting paid a fair amount for a backup PG, and in a lineup of [PG], Martin, Melo, Scola, Yao, Lowry makes as much sense as Brooks. Having that second decent 3 point shooter in Brooks back there definitely helps, but then Brooks isn't the playmaker Lowry is - and with the other 4 guys, you don't exactly need Brooks scoring.

    2. The potential mentioned lure for CP3. Of course, with Collison gone, Brooks was probably that lure, and if no Brooks, and other assets gone to get Melo, Morey has to start getting creative...

    3. Could you also get Billups? Would you have to include Martin, too? Even if you did, isn't Billups + Melo better than Brooks + Martin?

    4. As noted, necessity. The Nuggets will want at least 1 starter. And future draft picks can only go so far, especially since i don't think the Rockets can include both the right to swap picks and the knicks outright pick in the trade, as they would effectively be trading 2 first round picks in consecutive years away, which you can't do (i guess unless the nuggets traded their first round pick back; maybe the Rockets could trade their outright Knicks pick and then in the year they get to swap with the Knicks, further offer to then swap that pick with the Nuggets if its lower).

They can't offer cap relief but we can.

Plus, They'd can't match salary without trading Favors AND Harris.

Then Melo plays with Lopez and NOBODY.

DO you think Melo wants to be in the lotto for the next 3 years.

That trade exception is looking better by the minute.

No, he is collecting assets to be able to have an attractive package for a superstar that we covet and becomes available (ie Paul, Anthony).

I'm sure plenty of teams like Budinger, Hill, and the picks -- and we probably get plenty of offers for them -- but it's not like we're getting all-star caliber players offered in return. If they were truly coveted in the sense that Anthony and Paul are, we would have landed an all-star already.

Trading the RIGHT to swap wouldn't be trading OUR pick. However, I'm not sure if that right is transferable.
