If the consensus seems to be that Melo is a mediocre player, efficiency wise, with a good jumper and ability to finish at the basket -- lets just give Chase 20 shots a game and leave it at that.

    Say no to Melo.

They'd be low value anyway. Melo + Amare = future late first round picks.

NY can't put in a better offer than Curry - Gallinari - Randolph. Only way would be a swap for Amare.

I would love to see Morey use this as leverage to go after Danny Granger!

We can throw in those NY picks! We might put Lee in the trade proposal as well

honestly, i'm not sure, but i don't see how that's more attractive than what Houston can offer, since NY has no (imminent) draft picks.

LOL Curry. Are they that desperate for cap relief? Battier and Jeffries give more cap relief and more talent on a one-year rental, and no way does NY give up Gallinari AND Randolph.

Ive been against the trade because I didnt want us to get a rental player but now if this is 100% true, Im all for it... this is what youve stacked your chips for Darryl, lets make it happen

...so the question really is can Houston offer a more attractive package than Orlando, NY, Nets, Bulls, or the Hornets.

I think you can right off the Hornets. That team operates on a shoestring budget and wouldn't have the funds to keep Melo + Paul + anyone else of substance.

Orlando has a great roster but I think most of their players are overpaid and the ones that would fit in a trade scenario aren't exactly the type of players Denver is going to be able to build around....Vince Carter, or Lewis in a one for one is awful for Denver. If they take some of Orlando's smaller pieces in a multi-player trade, the only guys who they could get of value from Orlando would either be redundant on their roster or just glorified role players.

The Nets could be an attractive destination but don't have a lot of trading chips because they have so many small contracts on that roster meaning it would take like 4 players to trade for Melo(unless another team is involved). If he wanted to go to NJ, he would be way better off waiting to sign with them in the offseason. Can Melo wait all year for that?

Bulls could offer Deng but again, if your losing your superstar what is Deng really going to do for you? You mind as well go into rebuilding mode because Deng+Billups might not even be a playoff team in the West.

NY has some real value they could offer in return - cap relief, and a couple of good young players(randolph + Gallinari)...but is that better than a trade option of Battier/Jeffries/Hill + a Knicks future first rounder? It's debatable. That's cap relief, a young lotto pick to replace Nene and a future first rounder. I think Randolph is probably better than Hill but he also comes with an injury history already and some motivation/maturity issues. Gallinari...I don't get the love for him. He's a shooter and that's about it. I don't get why the Knicks are so reluctant to part with him. He's like Nowitzki only unable to create his own shot and even less tough inside than Dirk.

....but there is always a fly in the ointment. I honestly can't see Melo really wanting to be a Rocket. I'm almost inclined to believe he is using this as some leveraging power for some other angle he is working. If he does come to Houston though, I bet you anything Morey could make Melo+Paul happen if Paul was determined to play with him. I said it earlier in another thread - I don't want Houston to be in a position where Maverick Carter and Leon Rose are holding the city hostage for some larger agenda but if Houston became the spot they could work out of, we could see a lot of benefits to our future prospects. I would hope Morey has reached a status where players wanting to win come to Houston knowing Morey has a skill at finding great role players on the cheap to surround around the talent....but you never know. Sometimes players and their agents aren't that smart or really don't care about winning so much as care about money more.

I heard the Knicks are offering Melo FREE lifetime strip club.

They pretty much have nothing else to offer since they drained up all of their assets. So this is the only way to go now...

I am not going to come up with any hypothetical scenario here myself

any trade that is proposed here will always overrate the Rockets players

i mean Budinger being a major piece in a Melo trade? Melo the best SF in the game after Lebron? A top 10 player in the league? C'mon

I am more interested in seeing Nuggets4 post a trade from his standpoint of what Denver would want in a possible trade with Houston.

We arleady know what Houston wants now Denver has to say well if you want him we want this, this, this and this from your team.

Going up to the table and saying "we want him and we'll give you this" probably wont you too far

So yeah I am still waiting for Nuggets4 to post on what he would deem as an acceptable trade for his superstar to leave both w/ and w/o an extension

When can NY trade their 1st round pick? Are the Knicks allowed to trade their 2014 1st rounder even though the protection on the 2012 1st round pick runs all the way through 2015?

    Another look.

If you are the Nuggets would you trade him BEFORE the season or at the Trade deadline?

I mean if they are contending, there might be a chance that he would want to sign an extension and stay, right?
