Mallett made plenty of mistakes in the pre-season games... some against 2nd/3rd team defenses that were not game planning against the Texans... if these were brought up, you'd ignore them and say they were meaningless mistakes in a meaningless game. But its laughable that you think how these guys look in practice/training camp doesn't matter... and that pre-season meaningless games should be the ultimate deciding factor. Any coach that makes integral decisions based on these games alone should be fired.
He's tired of babying bad posters either people like you are going to figure things out or you aren't. He only spell things out for people so many times before he gives up.
The mistakes didn't lead to a sack or turnover.... Anyway all things the same, they should have gone with Mallett, and I think we'll realize that after Hoyer inevitably plays like Brian Hoyer and puts the Texans in a hole they can't get out of this season.
The ill-advised 3rd and 3 QB draw that BOB got into him for might as well have been a turnover... and all reports out of practice were that Mallett was a turnover machine. And you said basically the exact same thing with Fitz vs. Mallett last year.... that the season was over once Mallett was named the starter, or when "Mallet inevitably plays like Mallett, we'll all realize that lottery tickets don't usually pay off" (or some iteration of that). Will you be flip-flopping again if proven wrong?
You mean the play where the coaching staff called the wrong play? We're blaming that on Mallett now? After putting up with run call after run call at the goal line, why would he question stupid play calling in a preseason game? And there you go thinking what happens in practice matters as much as in an actual game....SMH. We'll see who is the real turnover machine when the real games start and Hoyer had the reigns. And I was right....the season was over at that point. If the Texans had stayed with Fitz all year long and he doesn't get hurt, they make the playoffs. Mallett's decision to try and play through injury cost the Texans any hope of the playoffs. At some point, you'll realize that I'm right damn near every time.
I thought this article had a funny quote re Bennett's thoughts towards Hoyer... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/seahawks-player-goes-amazing-rant-205645144.html "And then there's, like, you're sitting at home and there's breaking news, and it says that Brian Hoyer is the quarterback of the Houston Texans, I'm like, who cares? It's not breaking news. It's really not breaking news."
Not really. After losing to the Bengals and Colts (who only scored 17 points and have a terrible defense) the season was over. They managed to make it close, but they never really had a chance.
O'Brien himself said that the preseason games held only very little weight when evaluating the QBs. Said he used practice, film room, OTAs, etc. more.
Bobby has clearly established that Bob is an idiot now. No reason to have any hope for the Texans as long as BOb is coach
Which is fine if he happened to have made the right choice, it's especially not fine if he made the wrong choice. It'll show that he has no clue how to properly evaluate players if that's the case. Anyway, BOB has the QB he's been wanting all along, so he can live and die with him. There will be no excuse if his guy fails, it'll be 100% on BOB.
I say this with all the sincerity in the world - I feel like you're taking the decision too hard. The Houston Texans will be fine. If Arian comes through best case scenario, and is back by week 4, I honestly think anything under 10 wins is a disappointment. You can feel how you want about that, but I'm not lowering my expectations because the quarterback that had the better chance at winning the starting job won it. And as I've said before, and as you know, I was all aboard the Mallett hype train - ever since we traded for him.
Nick has been a valued contributor to this forum for a long time. You, on the other hand, tend to be needlessly antagonistic, arrogant and repetitive. You are presumably an adult. Try acting like one.
His struggles not only been shown on hard knocks, http://espn.go.com/blog/houston-tex...-knocks-shows-jaelen-strongs-camp-progression But also in game, https://vine.co/v/ej1wJHKXQm0
I hope you are right. I just can't help but feel like we're going into this year with an even worse QB than we did last year, and I was pretty down on the decision to pick up Fitz if you remember. That ended up being decent, but c'mon, how do you downgrade from that? I really don't think many people remember just how bad Hoyer was in his last 4 starts last season....and why would they? It would mean having to watch Cleveland Browns games.
The system! This system will cater to Hoyer. He knows it well. What doesn't fit Hoyer will be fit to Hoyer. Its how O'Brien operated last year as well. I expect a career year from him. Basically anything less, and we'll see Mallett. Read and relax...
This truly is an amazing time. We have Watt, Harden and Correa and for as great as they are they are easily overshadowed by the corresponding know it all posters in each sports forum. Bobbythegreat in football, basketballhollic in basketball and cangrejero in baseball have truly ushered in a great and enlightened era for clutchfans. We are lucky to be alive to witness it.
