Carmelo Anthony has decided to visit the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls once teams are allowed to meet with free agents on July 1, according to league sources.

The meetings have not been set up because the teams are not yet allowed to contact free agents. But Anthony has decided he will give those three teams a chance to recruit him when they are able to.

Carmelo Anthony will have his hands full with trips expected to be lined up to Houston, Chicago and Dallas once free agency begins.
While there has been speculation that Chicago is at the top of Anthony's list of potential destinations, one source said there is no true favorite in his mind.

The New York Knicks, who can offer Anthony $33 million more than any other team, are also still very much alive in bringing back the All-Star forward.

Though the Los Angeles Lakers are not on Anthony's current list, Kobe Bryant plans to recruit him to the team. Bryant, who is close with Anthony, spoke to him by telephone when they were in separate parts of Europe earlier this week.

Bryant told ESPN.com in a text message that he plans to meet with Anthony, as well.

For all the talk about Anthony joining LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami next season, sources said there has been no talk about going to the Heat from Anthony.

While there are still chances for other opportunities to develop, the Rockets, Mavericks and Bulls appear to be the Knicks' biggest challengers thus far.

"Those three teams plus the Knicks seem to be the ones he's going to consider," one source said.

Mavs? Where did they come from? I wonder if this is related to the other trade.

...Carmelo just needs to get away from every thing. He needs to got to Aspen, breath the air over there talk to people out there and then make a decision.

Cuban is swinging for the fences again.

He's lining up vets and coaching with Championship pedigree (Chandler, Dirk, Carlisle) and a dynamic offense with Monta Ellis and VC.

He also has TONS of cap room so can actually pay Melo his max, and if he doesn't he still has the Texas tax bonus to match ours.

Don't underestimate Cuban. While he struck out on Dwight and Dwill (luckily), he's a very dangerous X-factor in FA given he has a very good reputation.

Long term, what does Dallas offer? Dirk basically said he is done in 2-3 years, and Tyson Chandler can't stay healthy.

Houston has a Harden/Howard/Parsons as a core to go along with Melo. Come on.

I can see Cuban's offer to Melo now, "Come to Dallas and trade missing the playoffs in the East for missing the playoffs in the West"

Cuban is swinging for the fences....again....and I would not be surprised at all if he strikes out. Again.

Dirk is old. Chandler is old and struggles with injuries. Their PG is going to be...Raymond Felton? Marion and Carter are both free agents. Monta Ellis had a good season last year but I can't see Melo or Lebron wanting to go play with Ellis.

I honestly don't think this was a very good trade for Dallas. Felton is terrible and has a too-long, too-expensive contract. Chandler won't fix their problems even when he is healthy. And they had to give up young talent in Larkin as well as two draft picks.

Is TC a buddy of Melo's (now that the overrated, oft injured, aging 5 is now in Mavsville)?

Does Melo want to commit to D under Thibs?

Will La La let Melo leave NYC (unless it's for LaLaLamd)?

    Enquiring minds wanna know...

All very true, but I'm not worried about Dallas in the slightest bit.

It's not absurd to think someone would put their hopes in a proven winner like Cuban, but with all things considered, choosing Dallas over the other options is a bigger leap of faith than trusting in Derrick Rose's knee.

Dirk, VC? That's a VERY small window there. They better win it all this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Dallas AARPs!!
