That was Casserly. He stayed on through the draft after Capers was fired. Draft was in April, Smith was hired in June.
Seriously? Sometimes a team needs to start cleaning it's system early and point towards next year. Wade would be the man to do that, not Kubiak. Kubiak's decision to put Schaub in today proves he should be fired immediately. The Texans need to turn the page NOW instead of going through the same motions the final 6 games. Case must be given every chance to succeed and fail and Schaub should NOT be getting in the way of that.
The Texans would have a very, very tough decision to make if they fire Kubiak this week. Obviously, the easy decision for interim head coach would be Wade Phillips. Making that decision, however, would signify one of two things: A) The Texans love Wade and are willing to move on with him for at least another season. B) The Texans just need someone to fill in, and they were going to fire Wade at the end of the season anyways. This is based on the belief that Wade would not want to be demoted to DC after being head coach, but I suppose that is plausible. But, if the Texans aren't confident of that being the case, they may name someone else than Wade interim HC.
Is there much of a down side to losing Wade at this point? I don't think so... his defense has been figured out about as much as the offense has. Matt freaking McGloin was beating this defense today.... and again, no turnovers.
I agree. Should've made note in my post was that it was based on the Texans wanting to keep Wade in charge of the defense.
Then I don't see the point in basically telling him he's fired, taking away his power to determine who plays and who doesn't, but not actually firing him and asking him to still act as a lame duck coach anyway. If you're going to castrate him, just get rid of him and be done with it.
Hope the whole coaching staff GTFO town along with Ricky smith. Our organization has turned into a joke. We as fans have suffered enough with this team since 2002. It's time for Uncle Bobby to make some serious moves and start by hiring Cower!
Agreed... Any inside info on what the front office thinks of Manziel? Any info at all (on field / off field, etc).
Agreed except for the last part... he's not going to go back into coaching, and even if he did he'd be a shell of his former self. Quick... name a head coach who has ever led two different franchises to a Super Bowl championship?
