After our latest player screwage with Swift, loyalty is mostly an illusion for both parties that only a few rare stars can ever claim to be real.

In that case, $60 million is enough for him and his kids and grandchildren to live decently for 2000 years

I am on the line of thinking this will end up being a pretty shady deal for both teams.

Wallace out of comfort zone, more relied upon to be the big star, will struggle under the pressure.

and the Pistons will be very precariously placed this summer. They need a big time signing, and only have the MLE to play with...hang on...doesnt that sound just like the team we all love.

Bad deal basketball wise for everyone. Good deal only for Wallace's bank manager.

I'm in Illinois now visiting In-laws. Comcast broke away from Cubs v. Astros to give full attention to this story. I just wanted to watch the Stros...

the bulls backcourt (incl. sf) average 50 shots a game. that's similiar to the championship bulls relying on jordon. pippen, and kukoc solely for their points.

Ben Wallace's rebounds and blocks have gone down for each of the past 4 seasons. He no longer controls games defensively like he used to and he's no longer hungry like he used to be. He spent a great deal of this season whining about not getting enough touches offensively and even refused to go in a game.

I'd be devastated if the Pistons were losing the Ben Wallace of 4 years ago, but they're not.

Pryz, if we get him, will be a good replacement. He's not as far from Ben as people think. Still need to make another move or two besides Pryz, but we'll see.

I know nobody is going to believe me, because I'm a Bulls fan, but what about the idea that Ben jumped off a sinking ship and onto an up and coming team?

If D-Wade passed on signing an extension this summer, waited a few years, and signed with a young, improving team like the Wizards or Clippers -- would that be selfish? Or smart?

Ben will get his act together and overcome age (Clemens-style) for one year, 2006-07, and then it's back to the steep decline.

I've always thought that Ben Wallace is extremely overrated. This is a player who shot 41% from the free throwline last season. 41% for god's sake.

No offense, but that would be stupid. Collect your guaranteed 80 million now. You never know what will happen. If you get stuck in a bad situation, then in 5 years you can always opt out of your contract and make a move in the prime of your career after banking $60+ million. Or you can force a trade out of there like T-mac did.

An extra $12M is a lot to turn down. How many of us would turn down $12M to stay loyal to our current employer?

Yeah man, this team is so sick, I think it's a team with the brightest future. I hope New York sucks next year so Chicago can land a top 5 pick possibly landing them Durant or Oden to learn behind Wallace. I love everything about this team... their past, present, future, their jerseys, etc.

Yeah, anyone who can't shoot free throws better than my 10-year-old daughter shouldn't be making more than 10M for playing basketball.

Shaquille O'Neal begs to differ. Tim Duncan says it's not as easy as it looks.
