Speaking of, except for a few small passages, this speech, particularly the first half, could have been given in 2003.
GREAT speech by Bush. He took on the second-guessing, defeatist, pessimistic liberals head on and silenced them. He provided an upbeat, enthusiastic speech that highlighted the positives in America. Meanwhile, the Democratic response was a total joke. They are talking about 'uniting' and healing partisan wounds -- yet who was it that tried to filibuster a well-qualified Supreme Court Justice? Oh, that's right -- the Democrats. Who was it that has been dividing the nation through their partisan complaints and whining for the past 5 years? Oh that's right -- the Democrats. Has the Democratic party ever been at a lower point than today? Seriously, it has not.
It's hilarious. The man has set a modern record for not having vetoed one bill since he was "elected" in 2000. Not one. Nada. Zip. The man has never seen a spending bill he didn't like. And he's a conservative?? Keep D&D Civil.
I love this response. You mock Democratic calls of bipartisanship and unity by hurling insults and promote a further division and polarization. It's responses like this that have created the poisonous atmosphere in Congress and the nation as a whole.
[offtopic]What was your GPA? I have a 3.9 now, and I am always sizing myself up to those in the med school now.
I don't go to the med center.. I just live in that area.. I'm in the masters program for public adminsitration currently..
He does? Truly?? Wow, there have been so many reasons to be there, according to George, that I'm surprised he could pick a "winning scenario." Come on, George, I know you can figure this out! Keep D&D Civil.
