Ok, now the dunce brigade has arrived on the scene and is distorting past statements... That's probably a sign that the thread is toast... GOOD DAY
Also, if that quote is really representative of your thinking, I apologize for questioning your agreement with basso, George and tex. You are obviously nuts now and I just didn't know about it, so of course you're capable of agreeing with them. You used to seem sane, but I guess I just didn't know you at all.
Why be ye so miffed? IMO, some of his fiscal policies and weak foreign policies are the antithesis of the American spirit. BTW, I love swimming in the deep end rather than the shallows.
WTF??? What "weak foreign policies?" And what the hell about his fiscal policies is "un-American?" This is great evidence that the right in general has lost its mind. And it's a great sign of the enormous political re-alignment to come. No wonder people are deserting the GOP in droves. They don't want to be associated with crackpots and nutjobs.
p.s. I'm not miffed. I'm surprised, sure, because you never seemed crazy before. But I'm the opposite of miffed. If "socialist" and "anti-American" and just saying no to everything, no matter what it is, is all the GOP has left, I'm delighted. I truly never expected that party to lay down and die like it has. That's great news for years and years of a smart, reasoned approach to policy. I hope the Democrats take proper advantage of this unprecedented mandate to fix what the GOP screwed up so badly.
I'm amazed at the audacity of conservatives to say obama is weakening the country after the eight years we have just experienced. who left russia unchecked in diplomacy, who left north korea unchecked, but oh yeah, last week iraq opened up its oil fields to foreign companies so its all good.
Ciao. I hope you don't wander through the wilderness for too long. You're a nice guy, so you're always welcome back in the land of reality.
It's legit to say that Obama's policies are worrying in some areas, I'm about as left as they go but something about the incredible deficit he's running reminds me of the disastrous stagflation cycle Canada/America experienced in the 70s. Of course, we're not that close to having an oil crisis/embargo...but things are a bit precarious nonetheless. Also, comparisons to the last eight years are overplayed, we all know Bush was incompetent. No need to constantly remind people every time Obama is attacked.
One of the biggest criticisms of Bush is how he recklessly spent America into debt, now Obama is by all accounts doubling this. True, he has to contend with the financial crisis, but recessions like these have been known to solve themselves without massive Keynesian interventions and some of Obama's stimulus bill seems more agenda-based then anything. Couple the fact that he's now trying to push through everything else now (cap and trade, health care reform) and there are legitimate fears of overspending, of doing too much at once. People were concerned before. This was one of the issues on which the Bush administration was constantly attacked. It would be hypocritical not to keep these reservations in mind when it comes to Obama.
It's especially out of character because thumbs has based his entire BBS persona on being reasoned and reasonable in the past - in fact all the way up to Obama's election. But I'm afraid he is being sincere here.
seems like you're pretty much the only one in here who brings up personal attacks or threatens with a personal attack in here..
Seriously, what planet have you been living on? Ever since Batman came back from Europe, he's done nothing but cuss at me and insult me. Really he has done this for years, mainly because I'm a Republican. I have shown considerable restraint by not responding in kind.
