I did not like it, too movies-ish, I would not be surprised if the gangland 'war' gets short circuited by something esle (arrest, etc) next week.
I thought the episode was good, but your right, very predictable. No way Phil survives the series. The previews gave nothing away for next week but from one of the pictures, i think Tony and Paulie witness a hit on Phil. We'll see...
Wild episode tonight, really look forward to next week. I still think there should be a few more episodes in addition to the series though. They wasted too much time in previous episodes with pointless stuff (grandpa in the nut house with an asian kid, the son's depression, etc).
Great episode. Tony and Phil are both in hiding, but not for long. Funny how the only one of the old crew left to hang with Tony is Paulie, the one Tony likes the least. The NY crew definitely has their shizznit together more than the NJ crew. I think both Phil and Tony are dead men.
What do you think that was in the previews with AJ? It looked like he was witnessing an explosion or something.
Great f'n episode...Honestly, I'm glad they are finally doing a lot at Bada Bings... Bobby down, Sil almost, Tony in hiding...Hell, phil in hiding...Great way to end things, imo...Go down in a blaze of glory...I can't wait until next week... I think Tony will be gone...
Back in March, it was reported that one of the final taped scenes has Carmela and Tony at a Jersey ice cream parlor. I know they don't tape in sequence but we have yet to see this scene in the final episodes. It may not make the cut, might be a dream sequence, who knows? But something to think about..... http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/23/n...fd32cdd7a7599e&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
spoiler tags... I don't care if its as significant as this, but I'm trying my hardest not to be even the slightest bit aware about what's going to happen.
And a dissappointingly cliched relic of every Godfather, Casino, Goodfellas and their various imitators. God I hope not. I disagree, the whole fathers and sons theme (which those things were a part of) has been the theme of the season and works in with the entire series (tony's psychology, which goes back to his parnts of course) and those were vital to work it in. If you lose the grander message type stuff like that - the sopranos becomes a cheap caricture with a bunch of wiseguys bumping eac other off - which may generate cheap thrillsin the short run but in the end is just the same old sh-t.
lolol. wow. how exactly does one get so pretentious? i can't wait for the bloodbath that will be the final episode! you know, being the simple-minded "meat and potato" fan that i am.
I hope, and would bet money on the fact, that you are about to be severely disappointed. Honestly if hte show didn't have the highbrow stuff it would just be a pilot that never got off the ground, because the actors and writers would not have been interested otherwise
Hey, the Sorpranos is great, don't get me wrong, but it's just "Goodfellas" played out over 8 seasons. This coming from a guy whose seen every episode. But yeah. Bobby's dying didn't get to me much, and he used to be one of my favorite characters. I wish they'd done some more stuff with Artie, I really liked him, too. But I thought Artie jumped the shark when he "fell in love" with Adrianna. C'mon. For a couple of seasons, he was the only innocent character. I guess it's fitting that he'll just live out his life, running his restaurant, without a bunch of mob ties that he couldn't handle or deserve. I have to say, I thought the model train shots were a bit ham-fisted. I mean, sheesh, that was melodramatic. Here's hoping that the last episode is memorable, one way or another!
Sorry but no way - not even close and the fact that it lasted for 8 years proves this. If so then please tell me what Yeats poem Goodfellas was based on. Goodfellas was based on Henry Hill's mediocre memoir. If you thnk David CHase was just making a standard issue mob serial you should re-watch it.
