Totally knew the pool was gonna be the scene of something bad. Too bad he didn't drown to rid the last two episodes of his horrible acting. The American History X teeth stomp was friggin dope. Don't. Fu-ck. With. Meadow. Ever. I love her so.
alright, you get one night with Meadow but Tony goes coco on you. Do you do it? I saaay no. But damn. He fu*ked him up.
Killer episode. When AJ tried to off himself, I was running around my den yelling "holy sh*t! holy sh*t!". Great buttkicking Tony gave Coco. I love how he picked a tooth out of the cuff of his pants when he, Carm and AJ were meeting with AJ's therapist. Judging from the last meeting with Phil Leotardo, it looks to me like the entire thing will go down in flames with an all-out "let's go to the mattresses" war between the NY crew and the NJ crew. And...when you think about it...that's really the best way for it to end. Although...as we know....things can change on a dime with this series! I'm gonna be jonesing over Memorial Day weekend since they are skipping a Sunday...
I actually thought the session with Melfi was very telling. Tony was talking about alternate universes. Kinda gave an insight (along with his kevin finnerty thing) into how he wants outta the life. I still think there's a possibility that this all ends up with Kevin Finnerty waking up from a coma.
Glad everyone liked it. In my opinion, it's been unrelieved depressing masochistic frustration, without the side of Tony (and others) we saw earlier in the series that helped make it so interesting. A bummer of a way to end the last of one of the great crime dramas in TV history. It's been a bummer, dudes and dudettes. The acting is great, as it's always been. The scripts suck.
I liked this ep a lot...AJ being a puss and trying to off himself...then crying like a baby... Meadow...mmm...I could add to that too...oh wait...Tony going ape sh*t on coco was classic...I do like how Phil was being a d*ck and just tells how it'll go down in a blaze of glory... I still don't get the terrorist angle...its a consistent theme so they have to be part of the ending right?
Yeah, that was weird last night. Those guys weren't nearly as friendly with Tony as they'd been in the past.
I agree, I thought it was the basis of the show. its funny some of the people would like any episode with a decent amt of violence but I like the scenes with melfi and how they relate to tony's overall unbalance. I think the series is time to go, but I really like how melfi realized that she is not helping tony. I've always thought the sessions justified his life to himself, and melfi got a big dose of reality. her reaction to tony in the next session was funny.
I personally enjoy how it is ending. Tony already realized a person in his position has two outs... jail or death. His actions have shown that very much this season.
I disagree, I think the writing and hte dialogue over the last few shows has been absolutely first rate on all counts. I mean it's made Robert Iler look like a decent actor.
While I see what you're wanting to see more of, I don't see why its a big deal if Chase moves on from all the psycho-babble of Tony vs. his mother, Tony vs. his past, Tony and his panic attacks, etc. Its been covered already... the balance between psychopath tony/dad tony/sensitive tony/mentally ill tony/womanizer tony . For me, the story arcs have always been the most compelling. The development of his kids and their endeavors. The development of Christofuh's life. The balance between Carmela and Tony. Tony's crew and their internal struggles (Ralphie, Chris, Paulie). Tony's crew vs. the NY crew. This season, every episode has taken each of these arcs and exploded it x20 compared to the normal pace. At first, I felt cheated that they were only going to have mini send-off episodes for each of these 9 (one for Bobby, one for Janice, one for Junior, etc.)... but now, its just all culminating to an end that I can't begin to guess what's coming. It may not be what it once was... but its still head and shoulders above the other crap on tv on a weekly basis.
For my money this has been one of the best (Top 10) episodes of the series. I know the meat and potato fans loved the curbing administered to coco but the the emotional depth and drama of the episode elevated to Vittorio De Sica cinematic levels. That last seen of Tony & AJ reminded me of the Bicycle Thieves. Classic.
