That episode was pretty intense. Looks like Tony is unraveling before our very eyes. It's not going to end on a good note for Mr. Soprano, that much is clear.
Five. Last night's episode had me thinking about another way things could play out: Carmela made $600,000 on the spec house. At the end of last night's episode, Tony pays off his debt....$200,000...which he obviously got from Carmela. Now that Carmela is "financially independent", will Tony's gambling problems lead to financial issues which will cause Carmela to walk out on him? Also, it looks like from the snippets from next week's episode, AJ is going to go nuts because he got dumped. Five episodes is plenty of time to sort out who gets whacked and who goes to jail.
The goth kid story line was pretty dang funny. Especially when Tony tried to talk some sense into him. Didn't AJ go through a goth period during one of the first seasons?
Another solid episode... makes me upset that there are only 5 left. Tony is a degenerate... and now he's paranoid. Its only a matter of time before he does something he'll truly regret, and money won't be able to fix.
I don't think that's how he got the $$$. He liquidated most of his off-shore accounts, which still had plenty of $ in there (they said earlier in the episode, he was going to visit the russian guy). He did lose 100K on the stupid miami game, but he also didn't give 100K to the psycho kid's mom either.
Question about last night's episode...DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED IT YET Are we supposed to assume that Hesh's wife was murdered? Got confused on that one...
Nah, I don't think so. Looked like she might have suffered an embolism or heart attack... something sudden. The only way she could have gotten murdered was if she was poisoned, and that's not really the style of any hit man. Also, Tony would never stoop to something that morbid. If he was serious about not paying his debt to Hesh, he would have just told him to **** off... and he would have known that hesh couldn't do anything about it.
On the episode recap it said she had a stroke, but I was thinking the exact same thing - waiting for him to find the bullet hole or poisoned drinking glass meant for him.
Pretty good episode...Tony and the gambling, no self control, Vito's kid, terroist play again... AJ getting dumped, man, that's crazy...I though she was like all women, money grubbing b*tches, oh wait, wrong thread... It does look like he's going to go nuts...I think Tony will go down and go down big...
I'm figuring Tony did have something to do with Hesh's wife dying because A. he wanted to get back at Hesh for his condescension and he couldn't hit Hesh and B. He couldn't ever pay back the money if it hinted at any weakness on his part but with Hesh in mourning, paying back the money looked like an act of compassion, paying from a postion of strength. I just don't know how he did it. Or, as with Tony Sac, the real life drama of living and dying or losing members of one's family superceeds the petty rivalries of business.
Notice how Tony kind of had a smug, knowing look on his face when he gave Hesh the money? I too had a feeling that he had something to do with her death.
The 100k from the offshore funds was supposed to be for the widow. He justified placing the bet by saying it would help her live more comfortably. He blew that, which left Jesus camp as the only remaining option for the whack job kid. Tony confesses to Carmela, and she bails his ass out of the 200k debt.
Mand AJ's girl cleaned up real nice when he propsed. i never relaized she was a looker. "Yeah Lil Vito ate soemthing out of the litter box."
I doubt it was anything that sinister. If anything the sopranos avoids silly plotholes like that. Why kill his wife when he could just kill him and save 200k in the process? I believe that was more his smirk at regaining his natural place in the world (no longer subordinate to Hesh by owing him money, and Hesh in the emotional toilet afte losing his wife/gf or whatever) - as well as Tony satisfaction in getting a "win" after his streak of bad luck (Tony's wife give him money to pay off his debt, Hesh's wife dies in her sleep - win some lose some.)
Soooo, what'd ya think? I was all "Maybe at the end that writer dude was just writing a book/movie about the family and at the end it will be unvailed"...then BOOM! AJ is gonna die. Tony keeps focusing on the family too much now, so it's the only out. Chris is gonna rat. I can't figure this **** out anyways, and that's why I :heart it so. Great friggin' episode.
