With Halo 2 coming out this xmas I SEVERELY doubt that a new version of the xbox will be out until that game has had it's run as kingofthehillalltimebestsellinggameeveromgforatleasttwoyears.

Xmas 2006 is more like it.

Just a few tidbits of info I've read about on the PSP the last few days.

The PSP is pretty much just as powerful as a PS2 if not stronger. The only thing that I can recall that the PS2 does better is pushing own raw polygons, but with the smaller screen, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I think the PSP also has more RAM or something like that than the PS2, plus I believe it is also easier to program. However, with the UMD's capacity being 1.8 GB, developers will still have to come up with some tricks to fit pretty games on to the disc.

The battery power reports most have read have always seemed kind of sketchy, ranging from 2-2.5 hours to 10 hours. Movies will likely be the largest energy sucker since they will keep the disc moving constantly as well as the screen displaying images. Music eases things a bit, but may still only last 4-6 hours or so, with only the screen not really being used. However, both of these things could be helped by using memory sticks. Music and movies, albeit small movies unless there is some 5 GB memory stick for the PSP I know nothing about, could be used for up to 10 hours for movies and 20 hours for music. Games are a lot more difficult to predict though since no completed games have been tested on the PSP, at least not up until E3. It is really up to the developers to minimize the amount of power consumed by the games and they will have to use some tricks to really extend battery life.

Sounds like the DS will cost $180 which I would assume means that the PSP may possibly cost somewhere between the $200-300 dollar range by my guess. I doubt Sony would come out with like a $300-400 price tag on it when its competitor costs half that amount, especially when that competitor owns this market. JMO though. Who knows what they will do.
