hopefully, the price will go down soon. More than likely i will have one in my hands by the end of the year. I can only wish they will go down by the holiday season and/or have a value pack with more stuff than whats included now.
Ditto. I am in no rush to get one. Too expensive. All I want to buy from them is the system etc. I don't care about the other $80 of stuff with it.
Got one Friday, and not in a value pack. I ended up getting a mem card, NFL Street, Untold Legends and Ridge Racer. I have played Ridge Racer a good bit and I really like it. I have played Street a little and it is fairly similar to the PS2 version, except the smaller screen takes a little time to get used to. I haven't even put Untold Legends in the machine because I want to be able to sit and play it for a good while. So far I have been pleased with the quality, I am not pleased with the fact that I haven't had as much time to play as I would have liked.
I'm not in Houston so I don't know about specific stores. I got mine at Best Buy in Beaumont and they had about 10 left on Friday. The Beaumont Target also had a bunch in stock. On a different note, what are you guys doing about screen protection. Is it necessary? I would prefer not to use the little stick on things. Also, what are some good sites that have utilities for converting music video etc. ?
Go to www.video2psp.com They have a section called encoders. Some work better than others. I think the newest one is Sony's Image Converter 2.1
I am really consideing buying this great looking system, but not for the reason you think....I want for its other capabilities such as mp3's,movies, and web browsing. To those that already own the PSP, I would like to know if it has some of the function and programs of that of a PDA's? Like an office software such as to write memos, notes, calculator and will there be a program out so you can use one as a navagation system? Of course I will buy some games for it as well.
so i finally got a ps2 slim... ive never owned a playstion 2. what game should i get first guys?! have you guys tried god of war or gran turismo 4?
Chances are that the specialty stores, like EB Games, Gamestop, Game crazy, etc., are sold out of PSP's (and possibly for a while), while stores like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, etc., may still have them (possibly in "large" quantities). Like I mentioned previously, I'm waiting for my screen protector. It is supposed to use silicon or something so that I can apply and re-apply it without really messing up the screen. I've read that some mild adhesive tape can take off some smudges or marks on the PSP, so I might try that right before I apply the one being sent to me. I can't remember the e xact name, but I think it had EXiM in it. I got that one after hearing some recommendations online. The link wesnesked gave sounds good to me for videos/pictures, although I didn't notice the Sony Image Converter last time I checked. I'll try it out today, although I'm sure it works fine. Other software I've used is the pspvideo 9 mentioned in this threat as well as iPSP. They all seem decent at least, although I admit I haven't fiddled too much with video conversions since I only have 30 MB to work with. For music, I used Sonic Stage from Sony. I don't know if any other programs can do the same or more conversions that SS can do, but I was pretty happy with SS. It was pretty easy to do, easily detected my PSP, and had a nice interface, IMO. It would probably be even better if you wanted to use the whole Sony Connect thing as well. AFAIK, there currently isn't anything really like what you described except for the web browser that some people are able to use through Wipeout Pure. The future could bring them though. I will say that I have read rumors about it being able to do pretty much everything you described, although I've also heard rumors that Microsoft and Nintendo will merge, so take it for what it's worth. With web browsing more or less confirmed, I wouldn't doubt the other things from coming true, whether they are done by Sony and/or other companies or from the PSP community. Whether or not any of these things would actually be practical is a whole other story, but I don't see why they won't be available in some shape, way, or form. One great thing I found out about the PSP today is that there will be a Adventure Player and Adventure Player Studio for available in Japan shortly. Basically, this one company is creating software that will allow people to make their own graphical text adventures on their PC's and distribute them to play on PSP's. If this makes it out of Japan and expands to other genres, this could be a great thing for the PSP. For one period of time, I played this RPG's from the little RPG making program (I tried making my own, but I would get frustrated way too easily). While they weren't on the level of a Final Fantasy game, they offered some pretty good gameplay and were free, so I can see some great possibilities for this type of software on the PSP. Here are some pics: More pics here: (in Japanese, but has more pics) http://www.itmedia.co.jp/games/articles/0504/04/news086.html Congrats. You should have some good times with it. There are so many great games on the PS2 that it is impossible to really narrow it down unless you have a certain preferred genre or style of game you really like. From what I've seen and heard, GT4 and God of War are excellent games, so those shouldn't be bad choices. GTA:San Andreas was a very deep and fun game, so that along with the other GTA's wouldn't be bad choices, especially since you should be able to get GTA3 and VC for pretty cheap. Before I got my PSP, I played Metal Gear Solid 3, which was an awesome game (probably one of the best games I played this gen). If you want any more suggestions, tell me what games you like and I'll see if I could suggest some games. Enough posting...time for Ridge Racer.
Speaking of Word Processors and such, I found this article on CNET that talks about what the guy hates about the current PSP and what the chances are of expanding they system http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6449_7-6061582-1.html?tag=cnetfd.sd
I guess that guy was right for the most part. Most of those things were just minor annoyances (clock, volume, BG pics), but it certainly wouldn't hurt to have those things fixed. The good thing is that a lot of those improvements seem likely to happen, especially by a 3rd party. Guess we'll have to just wait and see. It looks like SCEK showed off the PSP web browser stuff for Korea. Here's some pics: More here: http://www.videogamerx.net/bbs/view.php?id=vx01&no=9014 BTW, I tried out the Sony Image Converter 2.1 and it is by far the best and easiest conversion software I have tried so far. Thanks for the link/info wesnesked.
Early PSP sales 'hit and miss' http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/games/2005-04-04-playstation-portable-sales_x.htm By Mike Snider, USA TODAY Despite the predictions of analysts and Sony, the new PlayStation Portable is no instant sellout. The first million of the widescreen movie-, music- and game-playing $250 PSPs were expected to be gone within hours of the launch March 24, but a survey a week later found that two-thirds of stores still had them in stock. "A solid but not spectacular launch" is how analyst P.J. McNealy of American Technology Research saw it. Of 150 retailers contacted on Thursday, 50 had sold out. McNealy estimated 475,000 to 575,000 units were purchased in the first week; official figures from Sony were not available. Toys R Us, Circuit City and Best Buy all say PSPs remain at some locations. "It is pretty much hit and miss at this point," Best Buy's Brian Lucas says. "You basically have to call around." That's good news for game fans. Carrie Yarbrough, 32, of Dallas found plenty of PSPs at a Target on Friday. "I like it, and I think I will enjoy it," she says. "The real test will be how many movies and good games are available these next few months." The news isn't bad for Sony, either. The PSP is off to one of the better starts in industry history, nearly on par with the Play-Station 2 launch in October 2000 and faster than PSP's handheld competitor, the $150 Nintendo DS, which has sold about 2 million since Nov. 21, according to market research firm DFC Intelligence. The PSP's price might have some buyers deciding to wait, says Brian O'Rourke of In-Stat Market Research. Some PSPs bundled with a game assortment top the $450 mark; he expects a stand-alone PSP to be sold for $200 or less by Christmas. "I expect that by the end of 2006, the Sony PSP will be outshipping both the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance," O'Rourke says. Early reports also indicate that a small number of PSP buyers have complained about dead pixels, the tiny points of light that make up an LCD screen. "I'm hearing reports of some consumers with over a dozen dead pixels," says Dan Hsu, editor in chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly. "That's way, way too many." A few dark or dead pixels is not considered a malfunction, Sony spokesman Patrick Seybold says. The one-year warranty would cover the problem of dead pixels interfering with playing games or viewing videos, he says.
Hey guys, if you have a router and the game Wipeout Pure, you can use the PSP as a true web browser. The korean version of the PSP will have an internet/web browsing capabilities while we wait for that option to come to the state, but for now this is the best we could do. Anyway, here's the link..step by step Here are some more things you could do with the PSP. Its rediculous how flexible and versatile this little thing is. tutorial
If you looking for a bigger Pro Duo card. Dell has them for less than $100 bucks. No telling when they will ship, but its the cheapest I've seen. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...y_id=5793&first=true&page=productlisting.aspx
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME DOWNLOAD THE VIDEOS ONTO MY PSP? EMAIL ME PLEASE -MIKEISME713@SBCGLOBAL.NET ALSO IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR A PSP, THEY HAVE ABOUT 30 OF THEM AT TARGET OFF OF 290@TIDWELL
Cool Pic man! It looks like you need to convince Clutch to let someone program in a wifi version of the site so that the bbs is more readable in your PSP. That would be a cool option to have in your profile: (normal | darkside | wifi). I'd be willing to write it, but I'm more of an asp.net guy than a php guy.
