The other two (experienced) 5s come off the books after next season. Therefore, they have 'value'. Booth is a salary/talent drain to Sonics. Therefore, take Booth and what's the payoff? get Daniels. Perfect for Spoon. They took Fortson, and retained Daniels. Ridnour, according to Ford, bombed in summer league play. Daniels value to Seattle is probably higher today than a couple weeks back.
Dallas just plays musical chairs with their players. Isn't this the same Calvin Booth that played for them a couple of years ago?
Yup. The same Booth who Cuban didn't think was worth the contract he signed with Seattle, but now apparently, is. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The sad thing is, hell end up on the end of the bench just like Fortson and Nellie will try to Masquerade Walker and Dirk as a C/PF combo.
So they get an overpaid white collar shot blocker with zero tougness. Why did they trade away Raef LaFrentz again? At least he has skills.
not sure why on earth the Sonics would have ever wanted MoT... they have Collison, and for the moment have both Lewis and Rad to give minutes to... for the money he gets and the lack of D he plays why on earth would Seattle see MoT as an upgrade......how does the 610 trade song go again
Nothing is wrong with the theory. You just made it seem like there was a rumor about Daniels and Booth being a package deal for us. My mistake.
Well now I'm pissed. My dreams of a T-mac, Yao, Booth dream team have now been dashed. Thanks alot CD!!! I would much rather have a Keon Clark backing up Yao for alot less money, thank you.
I think he started this thread because many of us thought we could package a deal that could send us Daniels and Booth, players that would fill in our holes.
I didn't mean to imply it was a rumor. So, sorry. Just a way to facilitate getting the desired 1 + a servicable b/u 5 was all.
Yeah, but that has been speculation created by folks on this bbs. The Aldridge rumor was more along the lines of trade exception + picks for Daniels. I never understood why people thought Seattle would dump a bad contract and a commodity in Daniels (who is productive and a cheap contract) for a contract nightmare in Mo. Mo is a marginal upgrade from what they have at the big forward and not worth the money. Anyways I was being sarcastic. The trade has nothing to do with the Rockets. Booth has never been directly connected to Houston in any rumor I have seen. Just drudged up and recycled in your everyday trade suggestion here.
While many of us overestimate our player's trade value, Seattle is a dire need of a PF. They have made it known that they need a PF and have even said they would use Lewis to get the likes of Kwame Brown and Tyson Chandler, so its not a far fetch to get a package of Booth/Daniels for MoT/filler or use of the TE.
I think this helps Seattle much more than Dallas. Booth has never really contributed on the scale that Fortson has. Fortson has proven in the past that he can be a rebounding MONSTER, if he can get the minutes. The last season that he got significant minutes (01-02), he was pulling down 12 boards a game--and that was only in 29 minutes! Booth has NEVER had production like that. I thought that the Mavs could have used Fortson a lot more often. Sure, he didn't have the offensive skills that the rest of that team had, but it's not like they were really WANTING for offensive skills. I think this is a great deal for Seattle.
Forston is an injury prone (played abotu 1 seasons games over the last 3-4 years), 1 dimensional player. I don't think he will get many minutes of Collison or Radmonivich's even if he is able to play nor think he will help Seattle much at at. Booth will at least provide a mild defensive presence for Dallas and help them much more.
