no love for these guys? You get your own freaking booth for crying out loud and you get to chill in your car while you wait. They have so much more to offer on their menu and the custom drinks and happy hour??? GTFO with that Whataburger and In-N-Out ****, Sonic all the way!!!! Even the commercial is funnier, like this one! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/moBlCvcfguI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I like Sonic. It's not my favorite fast food joint, but it's good. Has anyone tried the sweet potato tots? I'm curious how they are.
trippin. Sonic was my HQ during highschool. they let us do whatever and we knew some people that worked there. I mean, I'm always down for an ocean-water or some mozeralla sticks & marinara sauce... but WHATABURGER>>>>Sonic. That & some dude I knew there got shot a couple years back in the parking lot. Haven't really messed with it since.
Sonic has better malts than Whataburger, and those very decent chili dogs. The fries aren't bad, either. Don't care for the burgers, though.
Sonic would get more love if they actually made good food.... Right now...all they can do is drinks and ice cream.
fast food is fast food is fast food. But I still enjoy the whole drive in feel. Love parking the trike and washing down a coney chili dog and a grill cheese with a large cola! Hell, I miss drive in theaters too.....ok, I'm olding.
nothing tastes better on a hot day than a Route 44 diet coke from sonic. don't know what it is about those but the first drink is always pure nirvana.
Man, do I miss drive-ins! The Trail, the Winkler, the Hi-Nabor, the Telephone Road (I grew up in Southeast Houston, not far from Gulfgate, off Reveille). My father was a movie junkie and we went to the drive-in during the week, often twice, and would go to the Santa Rosa on Telephone Rd. if something good was playing there or the weather was bad. A special treat was going to one of the amazing Art Deco movie palaces Downtown that used to have vaudeville acts (before my time!) that are all gone now, dammit. We'd hit the original James Coney Island after the show. Still the best chili dogs I've ever had. Far better than what they serve at the chain now. Good times! The drive-ins were great places to take a date and make out, which I did more often than I can remember.
When will In & Out open in Texas? Do they lack investors? I would scrap every penny I have to get in on a franchise here in Houston.
Your post reminded me of my first American girlfriend (for some odd reason), Sandy R. with a killer El Camino, who I met at a drive-in up in Grand Rapids. Drive ins, both dining and theater, were the labs of my social education
