La la - Ashlee Moron. I hate that i found this song catchy. I'm pretty sure I'm the only 34 yr. old male that likes this. Then again, I've always been told I have a very "eclectic" taste in music.
A couple of others: The first 2 Avril Lavigne albums Half of the songs on "Immaculate Collection" by Madonna "How Can We Be Lovers" - Michael Bolton
Maggot Brain - Funkadelic. I don't care for the poetic swearing that takes place on the first 30 seconds, but I love the next 10 minutes of guitar riffs. Totally surprised that they cranked that one out.
He had nothing to do with the song other than singing on it, Sting is the reason why that song is good IMO..
If you are surprised, you haven't listened to that much Funkadelic. The "poetic swearing" is good ****. And Funkadelic rules. Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time For y'all have knocked her up. I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe I was not offended For I knew I had to rise above it all Or drown in my own ****. Come on Maggot Brain Go on Maggot Brain Heve you heard "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts"? Eddie Hazel rips it up on that one too. Travel like a king Listen to the inner voice A higher wisdom is at work for you Conqering the stumbling blocks come easier When the conqueror is in tune with the infinite Every ending is a new beginning Life is an endless unfoldment Change your mind, and you change your relation to time You can find the answer The solution lies within the problem The answer is in every question Dig it? An attitude is all you need to rise and walk away Inspire yourself Your life is yours It fits you like your skin The oak sleeps in the acorn The giant sequoia tree sleeps in its tiny seed The bird waits in the egg God waits for his unfoldment in man Fly on, children Play on You gravitate to that which you secretly love most You meet in life the exact reproduction of your own thoughts There is no chance, coincidence or accident In a world ruled by law and divine order You rise as high as your dominant aspiration You descend to the level of your lowest concept of your self Free your mind and your ass will follow The infinite intelligence within you knows the answers Its nature is to respond to your thoughts Be careful of the thought-seeds you plant in the garden of your mind For seeds grow after their kind Play on, children Every thought felt as true Or allowed to be accepted as true by your conscious mind Take roots in your subconscious Blossoms sooner or later into an act And bears its own fruit Good thoughts bring forth good fruit Bull**** thoughts rot your meat Think right, and you can fly The kingdom of heaven is within Free your mind, and your ass will follow Play on, children Sing on, lady
Totally agree with 'Swing Swing', that organ intro is just badass. Few of mine - (Most of these I just find catchy even though I know i should hate them) Aerosmith - Cryin Coheed and Cambria - The Suffering Divinlys - I Touch Myself Five for Fighting - 100 years Limp Bizkit - My Way Sugar Ray - Every Morning Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under the Influence Chingy - One Call Away Nelly - Ride wit Me
A few more moe made me think of... Limp Bizkit, Break Stuff - I like the drummer for that band a lot. Sugar Ray, the one with the chorus that goes "answer the phone, I know that you're home" - Sounds kind of like early Weezer. Kanye West, Gold Digger - I'm embarrassed to admit this...
I'll have to check that song out Mr Meowgi. I admit that haven't listened to them that much - mainly because I thought they were part of the disco scene because that's what my wife listened to and she had their albums. I saw from Maggot Brain that I was wrong.
To be fair it was a "live" version but I still like it better than Ted's version. What's the name of that free hosting site, I have the song and will upload it there but I can't remember what the site was
Not everyone likes the same bands. If he doesn't like Aerosmith, but likes that song, it's exactly what this thread is asking for.
I'm glad most of my music is widely considered good and is hard enough to offset the following. 4 Non Blondes - What's Up? Berlin - Take My Breath Away (must be 'cause of Top Gun) Amy Grant - Baby Baby (wow, I should really just stop now, shouldn't I?) All-American Rejects - Swing, Swing There are several Avril Lavigne songs I deem okay... someone help me Bow Wow - Fresh AZIMIZ Drowing Pool - Bodies Eve 6 - Inside Out Extreme - More Than Words Fiona Apple - Criminal (nothing embarrassing about this one) Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom Hole - Celebrity Skin INXS - Need You Tonight (I don't care for the band at all, but I really love the riff in that song) I could keep going, but it'd probably be better to stop.
In light of recent events... Toby Keith - "I'm a Ford Truck Man" (from the commercial), I also dont' mind the song with all the flag waving and vitriol, I think it's "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue." -I know that's not a very "pc" song anymore, but you gotta admit, it captured the feelings of a lot of people right after 9/11... I mostly despise all C&W music though... Some long term faves of bands/artists I don't really like... Creed - "Higher" -a BBS favorite to bash Michael Jackson - every song on the radio from albums "Off The Wall" to "Bad" -really a sad person now, and a sadder story of recent events Hanson - "Um Bop" -now really, that's strange -my wife's name for them is "Anacin" because they cause headaches Guns & Roses - "Civil War" & "Cold Novemember Rain" - I now these are in two different incarnations of the band, and sound somewhat similar... I don't mind Slash's riffs on early stuff... my disdain is for Axl. Limp Bizkit - "Rollin'" -comedy gold Jah Rule (appearrance by) - "Can I get a.." from Rush Hour... ever since then he's a joke Kanye West - "Jesus Walks" -some odd theology in there, but I get what he's trying to say -otherwise he was better when he first came out with the name "Nas" AC/DC - "Thunderstruck" yep, I know many of you live to relive the Angus riffs and such... and a few other songs I can stand, but really... should you sound like a consitipated man trying to sing through his rectum? The Fugees - "Ready or Not" -they were done after this classic... and where are they now? Really? There are more... I'd just have to listen the mix station to hear them.
I actually got it, cant say I like it, maybe just because the quality of it...dont know...nugent is awesome though
