that whole "let it out and let it in" line which I've known for so long....just now took on a whole new meaning for me.

    that girl rox!

not to mention the "Na Na" close-up on her lips. My only improvement on that would be to say that I want to see the full 7 minutes (or What) of the Na Na closup on her lips.

do get too excited. I say "what" all the time, because I think I don't know what I know, if you know what I mean.

Or countless other country artists for that matter. Them and reggae artists churn out the covers like its going out of style.

No particular song comes to mind that shouldnt be covered I'll try, along with some examples I've heard:

    - Everyone's favorite remake of "One" by U2 and Mary J Blige. I don't care that U2 endorsed and participated in it, just made my blood boil. Would be an interesting concept if they made original songs. But nooooo lets cover the popular obvious SIGNATURE U2 song for the immediate feel good response.

    - Do not cover Metallica's "Enter Sandman". You are NOT cool when you do that and are automatically a douche if done. Same rationale can be applied with various metal songs like Korn "Freak on a Leash" or Linkin Park "One Step (I'm About to Break)". The artist has over-extended THEMSELVES recording these tracks. Do NOT think you can come in and match the same intensity and passion doing it the same exact way covering the same exact songs.

    - "My Prerogative" and "I Love Rock and Roll" by Britney freakin Spears man, geez.

    - Any song where the arena or concert venue crowd in appreciation puts up their lighters/cell phones and comes together in harmony....and the act wants to recreate it for themselves rrrrgh..alright I'm getting too angry now.

Bah, I was hoping you'd appreciate the clip on a musical level. If you want to go all fan boy on her, I'm sure one of the other Chinese posters on here would be more than happy for to chime in with all the webpage info or what not :D

I take it you don't care for country or reggae artists? That's too damn bad.

In the words of Waylon and Willie,

Don't ever cuss that fiddle, boy
Unless you want that fiddle out of tune
That picker there in trouble, boy
Ain't nothin' but another side of you
If we ever get to heaven, boys
It ain't because we ain't done nothin' wrong
    We're in this gig together
So let's settle down and steal each other's songs

Wilson Pickett, with Duane Allman on guitar.

    Better version than the Beatles.

Warren Zevon did an amazing cover of Steve Winwood's Back in the High Life. Actually it was a better version.

As to Johnny Cash's version of He Stopped loving her today, I never heard it before. But it might be good, too. But I doubt it was better than George Jones's version. Actually cash makes any song he does good. But it takes a lot to improve upon a classic!

and let's not forget the words Lyle Lovett, who all the girls in my life want to have his baby. It's so hard living in the shadow of Lyle Lovett.

    anyhow, i'm drifting.

    the words are

    You're not from Texas
    You're not from Texas
    But Texas want's you anyhow.

    Best country line ever!!!!

There are some songs and artists(singers especially)that just cannot be covered in any pleasing way because, either there is no way to improve upon it despite the covering artist's ability or, there is no way to decently or atleast satisfyingly produce an impact equal to it's original execution and effect. Or if it's a covered song that's already been perfected and given a prominent identity with the artist that gave it a whole different and amazing quality and feel.

Janis Joplin. Roy Orbison. Freddie Mercury. (just off the top of my head)

Elvis Presley: If I can dream ('68 Comeback special) , An American Trilogy, How Great Thou Art.

    to name a few..

And I've never heard a cover of "Somewhere over the rainbow" that was worth it's performance or recording..
